Cioppino! 8/8/2011

I got a GROUPON coupon for this place and just discovered this local treasure! I had their cioppino... It was AMAZING! A huge bowl filled with clams, mussels, shrimp, salmon and crab legs. The red broth was perfect for dipping the garlic toast! On another visit with the whole family, we ordered a large pizza and a tray of assorted wings. Those wings were finger lickin good! Honey BBQ, Original Red Hot, Garlic Parmesan and Lime Chili. We'll be back, have not had their Lunch Buffet. A great value for your money and taste buds. more

Calamari... Pizza... Pasta... 8/8/2011

everything so far is delicious! I love this place, if you've never had the pleasure of living in NY or Chicago, this place is just like the local neighborhood Italian restaurants of NY and Chicago! The owner is from Sicily, so you know your eating authentic Italian food. My kids love the baked Gnocchi Alfredo! I prefer the Veal Parmigian. We are locals, so after my kids soccer or baseball game, we head over to Fratelli's and enjoy a homemade hearty meal. Finally, a HUGE plus is they also DELIVER!!!! I love this place! more

Best Italian Food! 7/13/2009

I'm Italian born and raised! Basically, my experience of Italian food, here in American, has been terrible! The chain restaurants are the worst, and so are the so called authentic restaurants with ""Non Italians"" running the place. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Fratelli's... OMG! It was like being transported back home! The savory sent of fresh herbs, the homemade sauce and pasta! At Fratelli's, you really can experience REAL Italian food without going to Italy. Take my advise and try it! Pros: Plenty of FREE parking! more

Horrible food, even worse service 6/28/2009

If you're looking for Italian food, go somewhere else. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. The food was bland and didn't taste good at all. You can get a better pasta frozen at Trader Joe's. The server (who happened to be the ""manager on duty"") was rude, mean, and even had the gumption to say that we deserved to be treated poorly. Completely the opposite of what to expect from an Italian cuisine. If I wasn't in a group, I would have walked out. more

GREAT PIZZA 5/17/2009

This place has excellent service and great food. We stopped to try the pizza and it was fantastic. I am a pizza lover and they have the best pizza in town. Ambiance is great you have nice music playing. Try it you'll like it. Pros: SICILIAN PIZZA more

Bravo! 7/15/2008

I was heartbroken when my beloved Maurizio's in Glendale shut down. The sauce! The calamari! The cannelloni! Then I stumbled into this little deli with a small seating area and there on the wall was a blown up article and a picture of Mr. Maurizio himself. I called my boyfriend practically in tears. Our favorite Italian place was not extinct after all! This place is cozy, the waiters are groovy, and the food never fails to please. We love going for special occasions or just after a rough week. Can't wait until next time! Pros: food, staff, bread, drinks, food, autenicity, food... Cons: A little small, not good for large groups more

Best Pasta, Pizza in L.A.! 4/24/2008

Every saturday night i find myself there 'cause the food is awesome, the staff is like an extended family. Fratelli's is the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, period. I have been to both Italy and N.Y. and the food and service here are both superb and unmatched in L.A. The cuisine here certainly stands with the best in either Italy or N.Y., or any little Italy's in America. The staff is very welcoming and so warm, it's a real pick-me-up to come for dinner after a hard day's work. It's like coming home to your Italian grandma's kitchen. There is nothing the staff won't do to accomodate you, and make the dining experience special. I am a pizza lover and they have the best pizza in town, (the crust range from thin - extra thick) I prefer the thin crust. The ingrediants are always fresh and EVERYTHING on the menu is homemade. Try the delicious tomato soup, it comes with a side of cheese and garlic croutons, and the fettucine alfredo is outstanding. I look forward to any evening dinner there, and when I leave I savour the wonderful taste of the food for hours afterward. They just added a wine bar and serve soju and have an excellent selection of wines. This is a must try Authentic Italian Restaurant! Pros: Authentic Italian Restaurant! more

GREAT FOOOD!!!! 4/12/2008

I absolutely LOVE the food here! I happened to stumble into the restaurant a few years back when i was visiting a friend that lived in the Montrose area. Being a big italian food lover I make it a point to try any italian joint at least once....and I'm super glad that we gave this little mom & pop joint a try. My friends & I still make it a point to come out every other weekend even though some of us live far away (Glendale, Long Beach, Westwood, Asuza) .....ITs just that GOOD!! more

Best Ravioli's outside of Italy!! 4/9/2008

I went to Fratelli's over the weekend, on a date! The food and service were EXCELLENT! The servers were very attentive (I think the knew this was a first date). We ordered the calamari fritti, it was perfect. I ordered the special lobster and crab ravioli and my date had the chicken marsala. I thought the raviolis were amazing, after a taste, my date wanted my ravioli's too. The chicken marsala was very good too. We ordered coffee and shared a tiramisu. Like I said, the servers were very attentive, and the food was amazing. I've never had a bad experience at Fratelli's. I even use them for deliveries, they delivery anything on the menu and they're open late. If you've never been to Fratelli's, you cant go wrong with the Ravioli's and the Pizza is VERY GOOD too! Pros: Good Old Fashion Pizza and the BEST Ravioli's! Cons: There is only 1 location more

booooooo fratelli's! 4/7/2008

Save yourself time, energy, and appetite. Don't dine here. Went there on a sunday night with a total of 10 other people in the restaurant (besides ourselves) and it took close to an hour to recieve our not so good food. My boyfriend took, literally, a bite of his lobster & shrimp ravioli (how could you go wrong with that, right?? wrong!) ""special"" and was close to upchucking. Not to mention the terrible customer service.. Pros: no wait. Cons: everything else. more

worst italian food ever. manager has an attitude problem. 4/6/2008

worst italian restaurant ever. we went for the first time last sunday evening with the family and friends, 8 of us total. apart from my girlfriends and sisters spinach tortellini, the rest of the food was terrible, I had the lobster ravioli, but all i could taste was salt. my brother had the penne with garlic white sauce, and it was 90% sauce, 10% penne. not just that, but the sauce was so thin, it was like water. the waitress noticed we didn't touch our meals and asked if everything was OK, we told them we didn't like our meals as it was untouched, she offered to redo it, but since it took them 50 minutes to bring the food in the first place, we didn't want to wait longer. oh, there's more, they were out of their signature olive bread, but substituted french rolls instead, then charged us (without telling us) then they brought olive bread for another table at the end of our meal. then the manager (i assume, some young hispanic guy with long hair and goatee) gave us the worst attitude when we went to pay the bill. we questioned why they charged us for bread (even though it was only $4, it was the principle) the manager yelled at us to go sit and they'll handle this. so in conclusion, this place is awful, you want good italian food and great italian ambiance, and terrific service, go to VIVOLI CAFE in Hollywood, or Melegrano, or Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock, just don't go to Fratelli's. these alternatives are equally priced but with better food and service. and to be fair, the waitress and guy in white apron were cool, only the manager was a problem. Pros: good wine selection, no waiting for tables (always empty; should have guessed why) Cons: no risotto, no bread, pine nuts!, manager's attitude, oh and the food more

Best Pizza every! A real local Trattoria. 4/3/2008

I work at Verdugo Hlls hospital, just up the street from Fratelli's. One of our medical reps treated up for lunch, she ordered from Fratelli's. We had the Pizza della Nonna. It was fantastic! I enjoyed the pizza so much, I took my husband there for dinner. He had the typical Lasagna and I choose a special Tuscan Ribeye steak. They were both wonderful! and they both came with soup or salad. We both ordered the soup of the day, cream of zucchini. It was the first time I ever had zucchini soup and I'll definetly be back for more. Wow, and to think I work a block away and never tried their food before! Next time were going for their sunday morning breakfast. Pros: They're open late, and everything is homemade Cons: They only delivery within a 5 mile radius more

Excellent Food, Exceptional Service! 3/26/2008

I've been for this restaurant several times and have never written a review. I felt compelled to do so because of the behavior of some other customers. I was waiting for a table on 3/22, a BUSY Saturday and decided to dine at the New wine bar. A large group of about 14 guest came in without reservations, and they we're promptly seated next to the wine bar. Some other guest that were waiting for a table were annoyed because they were seated before them, but this party had a cozy room to themselves. Pros: Seasoned Servers, Authentic Italian Cuisine! Cons: They just let anyone in! more

worst customer service,racial comments,unhygienic,pathetic waiter. 3/25/2008

this is my 1st review.i was a regular customer and i loved the restaurant but i don't want to give even one star this time. so please beware. worst service experience in my life so far. i found hair in a salad and when i pointed out the hair, they bring the same food out by removing the hair in a couple of minutes and they expect us to eat that. we being vegetarian and insisted that we do not eat meat while ordering. still they brought the salad with salami pieces in side. we ate a few bites and found out. we understood it was a mistake so without getting mad we told them to bring another salad. they bring the salad with fewer pieces than before of salami. i think they just hand picked some out. we told them to again change it. this time they bring it with someone's hair inside. can you imagine this? those people are not even ashamed of their pathetic service. on top of this, they even had the audacity to charge us for what we did not eat. business can be bad but none would go to this extent to save and make money. at the end the waiter also gave some racial comments while leaving and was not even apologetic. this was totally uncalled for. i do not have a video to prove it but have people who has watched this experience.i think business is really bad around here and may be restaurants do this to save some money but they don't understand they loose customers and at the end they are the losers.mistakes can happen but not again and again.shame more

Great Homemade RAVIOLI, Very Good Pizza, A rare authentic Local Italian Restaurant 2/16/2008

This restaurant is a rare authentic local Italian Restaurant. Its not too big, but definetly like the restaurants you would find in the Tuscany hills. The pizza menu offers gourmet pizza sauces as well as toppings. The pasta is very good and so are the salads and homemade soups. You MUST try the daily soup. We go to Fratelli's once a week, its definetly the local Italian restaurant to go to! Pros: Local restaurant, not too many people know about it. Food is GREAT! Cons: They open late on weekends for breakfast. more
