He came for a consultation,. I was impressed with his presentation and was looking forward to working with him.We never heard from him again. I finally called him, he hung up on me. Obnoxious! Our pool was leaking bout 7"" per day so we had them out to do a leak detection and repair the leaks. We thought their price for the leak detection was a little high at $650 but in hindsight it was the best money we could have spent. They did the leak detection and marked the location of the leaks that they could find. Some were under the concrete deck, some under the pool and some in the landscaping. In every place they dug they found and repaired a leak. I couldn't believe how accurate their leak detection was and it saved us a ton of money since we didn't have to replace the concrete deck like 2 other contractors said would have ot be done. They also changed our pool to a saltwater pool while they were here. Great job and highly recommended. Pros: True experts, no pressure sales, educated us completely more

We called them out do replace out outdated pool equipment. They were very professional and really knew their stuff. Frank took the time to explain the reason behind all of his recommendations to us and they all made perfect sense. They did a great job replacing our equipment and we now notice much better water clarity and a 30% lower electric bill as they had predicted. We would highly recommend their services. They came out and replaced our old broken heater with a new energy efficient one. In and out in an hour and even replaced a broken valve that we didn't even ask them to. A friend recommended Frank Bowman Designs to us for an outdoor fireplace. I thought he only did pools but I guess with the economy like this, their schedule isn't full. He designed an amazing outdoor living area with an Outdoor Kitchen, fireplace, patio, retaining walls and landscape. We did the Patio and Fireplace and plan on the rest as our budget allows. He even set things up so in the future the Kitchen will already have the water, gas and electric ready for it. They were in and out in 2 weeks, cleaned up and we couldn't be happier. We had Frank bid on our pool project two years ago but decided to use another contractor. (he was @ $12K higher) We were impressed with everything he presented to us and explained all the additional steps they provide in the construction. After speaking with the two companies that were bidding on the project, they convinced me that ""we didn't need to do all that additional stuff"" that frank proposed. Our project was installed with some issues and took a little longer than expected but we were satisfied with their job...until this year (outside of our warranty). The company that built our pool is currently out of business but was bought by another local landscaping company that refused to repair it. The tile started to build up with white calcium terribly and the tile on the spa and infinity edge started to come off all over and our electric bill was through the roof. We called in a professional tile inspector and in his report was the reason that all the failures occurred. On his recommendations was a list of the proper installation (that wasn't followed) and they were almost word for word what frank had suggested. We had Frank come in and replace all the tile correctly (craftsmanship was much better) as well as replace the high energy usage equipment with what he had originally suggested. $14K later we are looking at a nice project that we should have originally used Frank for as now I am certain it would have turned out much better if we used him from the start. -- Don't want to slander the original installer or the new landscape company but just because you are a member of the ""master pool builder guild"" in Raleigh doesn't mean that you are a ""master pool builder""... Pros: Technically superior, you get what you pay for more

We contacted Frank because we have seen some of his projects but were concerned that his projects came with a hefty price tag as well. It couldn't have been farther from the truth. His design and attention to detail was amazing and while he was a little more expensive than other bids we received, none of the other bids included nearly the detail or quality of materials that he gave us. He was in constant communication throughout the project explaining everything, keeping us up to date with the schedule and even came in under budget (not by very much) but we have never had any other contractor come in near budget yet. What we have is a backyard paradise that far exceeded anything that we could have imagined...we can't wait for the warm weather to get here so we can spend it pool side with a few tropical drinks.
