Great People watching and desserts too! 4/20/2006

I think Francesca's on Ninth Street in Durham is great! I don't drink coffee so I don't know if there coffee is that great, but the atmosphere is definitely great for people watching, general relaxing and hanging out. They have great desserts and gelato and occassionally have folks playing music and such. more

Great Dessert on 9th Street 4/16/2006

I think Francescas is a great dessert place in durham. If you're having dinner on 9th Street, you should go here for ice cream, sorbets, coffee, or cake. You can also order cakes to go. The prices vary... the ice cream is not too expensive but cakes are a bit pricey, however, worth it!! more

Best dessert place in Durham 4/6/2006

This is a really awesome place to go eat dessert after a nice dinner, or to go just for fun. They have a great selection of Italian sorbets which are not only good for you, but really tasty. The prices are a little high, but they are well worth it for the quality sweets that you get. more

okay gelato 3/17/2006

It's nowhere near the gelato in Italy, but I guess it's okay in a pinch. I'd only go there if I were doing something else in the area--it's not worth the trip otherwise. But the people who work there seem nice, and it's a nice space. Plus, they're really nice about letting you sample flavors before you decide. more

Delicious Gelattos and Sorbettos! 9/30/2005

Francescas is a great place to go for some coffee, tea, or dessert. They homemake all of their gellatos and sorbettos and they are delicious. They are always coming up with new creations, my personal favorite is their cinnamon chip. They recently (o.k. within the last couple of years) expanded their space, which is great as if offers a wonderful place to meet or study. The only drawback I find is that it is sort of dark. More lighting would probably be nice. There is also live music on the weekends most of the time. more
