Pros: bowlin, service Cons: food, arcade, company more

a great place 1/21/2004

Unlike the last person, I didn't think the price is expensive at all. $7 per game and $4 rental shoe is NOT expensive. This is the cheapest price in the city and lots of lanes. A movie alone cost $10. I didn't like the fact that they already had people coming into my lane when I've not finished tying my shoes and gathering my stuff. But of course, time is $. I had a great time. Drinks were $5 and there's food!!! Pros: inexpensive, security guard, good music Cons: balls are too greasy, too dark in bathroom more

This is a great place to go bowling. The price is good ad there is an arcade if you tired of waiting for friends or you just wanna play games. The lines are short too which is a plus. more

Good Family Fun 11/15/2002

Good, clean, safe family fun. I celebrated my 25th birthday here and had a ball. The DJ played a good variety of modern hip-hop and 80's classics with a mixture of pop and R & B. If you are placing a reservation, however, be sure to get the terms of the policy from the reservation clerk. Note that if your crew doesn't show up on time they will cancel your reservation so tell your peeps 1/2 hour earlier then normal time. But I must admit that the staff worked with me and my folks who arrived late and I was able to hold on to my reservation. Would definitely go back. Pros: Friendly Staff, Food, Good for Parties more

Editorial
  • In Short
Sure, like any typical bowling alley, Leisure Time has balls and pins--but that's where the similarities end. An $11 mango-tini glows, all class and flavor, under the suspended glass orbs that light the bar. Patrons tend to be of the corporate ilk, here for a team-building outing or happy hour; the rest are mostly tourists waiting to catch a bus. Group photos are snapped next to beer towers, with a backdrop of neon light-reflecting Grecian columns and low, purple sofas. A high-tech system keeps score and gives bowlers aiming guides alongside primetime TV. The lounge is dressed up as a nightclub--bouncer, DJ and all--but it's not fooling anyone. Bowling, believe it or not, is the main attraction.

Hits: Maybe nachos are on the menu, but so is an Asian salad that easily feeds two, with grilled chicken, oranges, crisp wontons and an overall freshness rarely seen at a bowling alley.

Misses: In spite of Leisure Time Bowl's efforts, no one is calling Port Authority the next big thing in nightlife. The inconvenient spot is best-suited for killing time before a bus trip or as an alternative to midtown karaoke.
