st. patty's day FUN! 3/19/2010

i came here with friends on st. patrick's day because i heard word on the street that lane reservations were half price! we came in, bowled and drank, and had a great time! our server was extremely attentive, but the food was only subpar. one of the managers who came to our lanes told us that they're opening a restaurant soon so we absolutely plan on coming back when it does! Bowling in the Port Authority?!!!! 1/18/2010

This is now officially my favorite bowling alley in the city!!!! Bowlmors service is not the finest .. and Lucky Strike is a bit too pretentious for my taste!!!! Beer towers and bowling are a perfect combination!!! and after a night of drinking i can just hop right on a bus home to NJ! I'm thinking i might have my birthday here ... it'll be so much fun!!! more

A great place for children...but even better for adults 1/18/2010

I had my God Daughters 9th birthday party. The kids has a great time. We had children as young as 3 years old. And the ball selection was great with Hello Kitty and Disney Princess Balls. But the best part was how much fun the adults had. The staff pretty much did everything for us. We began drinking with pitchers of Sangria and had the best chicken fingers then after our party time was up we sent the kids home with the fathers of the group and ended up staying for a "Girls Night Out" all night! THough we left around 11pm, I was told they were open until 3am! Needless to say we went way past Sangria... To Patron Margarita... They were great! And happily I ended up taking a NJ transit bus back to Fort Lee... I hadn't driven in, and it was so simple to hop on the bus. Thanks Leisure Time for a great night out. Pros: Great Drinks, Atmosphere, transportation Cons: none more

Now they have a bistro? 1/18/2010

Going out of town for the weekend, trying to find our bus gate and what did I see? Leisure Time Bowl now has a bistro? I've been there in the past and thought the food was ok. I did not quite know what to think but I wanted to give it a try. What else was there to eat in the port authority anyway except cold pre made sandwiches. I got the lunch special which was like $10 bucks. It included a meal and a drink. I was actually surprised how great the food was for a bowling alley. Pros: Best Martini's in town more

Beware of Online Reservation Charge 12/10/2009

I used their online system to reserve lanes and since they use an international credit processing system, my bank charged me additional foreign fees. This so shady. more

Great Bowling experience 10/26/2009

I had the greastest bowling experience at this location. I was impressed by the cleanliness and polite hostess.I find the staff are very helpful and often keep a close watch on what is happening on the lanes, on one of my recent visits i hit a strike but the computer did not register it, before i could say anything a member of staff was at my console changing the score, this in my opinion is great customer service. Pros: Good atmosphere, friendly staff more

Editorial
  • In Short
Sure, like any typical bowling alley, Leisure Time has balls and pins--but that's where the similarities end. An $11 mango-tini glows, all class and flavor, under the suspended glass orbs that light the bar. Patrons tend to be of the corporate ilk, here for a team-building outing or happy hour; the rest are mostly tourists waiting to catch a bus. Group photos are snapped next to beer towers, with a backdrop of neon light-reflecting Grecian columns and low, purple sofas. A high-tech system keeps score and gives bowlers aiming guides alongside primetime TV. The lounge is dressed up as a nightclub--bouncer, DJ and all--but it's not fooling anyone. Bowling, believe it or not, is the main attraction.

Hits: Maybe nachos are on the menu, but so is an Asian salad that easily feeds two, with grilled chicken, oranges, crisp wontons and an overall freshness rarely seen at a bowling alley.

Misses: In spite of Leisure Time Bowl's efforts, no one is calling Port Authority the next big thing in nightlife. The inconvenient spot is best-suited for killing time before a bus trip or as an alternative to midtown karaoke.
