Fox Valley Shopping Ctr

I am an avid shopper and proud of it; there is nothing wrong with enjoying consumerism. However I do hold my standards to a certain level and Fox Valley Shopping Center does rise to those standards. As a little girl my mother rarely brought me to that mall because she felt more comfortable and at home at Oakbrook Shopping Center. As a mature young adult I now understand why. It is filthy. The clothing racks, especially in the department stores, are unorganized was with clothes on the floor. Looking at the fallen clothes you can see mystery stains in the carpet that should not be there. The dressing rooms are even worse with a stench that leads you to notice the garbage on the floor and scum on the mirrors. Stepping out of the department stores makes you wish that you had been in Nordstrom?s or Lord and Taylor. The sight of all the mall rats in the common area is almost unbearable. I am a Middle Class American that is highly turned off by trashy people who are obnoxious, rude, loiter, and do not know common courtesy. The tweens who have nothing better to do but go to Abercrombie and Claire?s are expected to act in such an immature manner. I do not want to be slowed down by parents who cannot control their children and don?t understand how to use their Macy?s card. These mall rats need a proper lesson in shopping etiquette. It doesn?t help that their immature attitude is egged on by the people who work at the kiosk?s in the common area. Their only job is to annoy people to the point where they buy the product specifically for the salesperson to get out of their face. Their products are not even of good quality; their only purpose is to make money and strip the integrity of shopping. The integrity of shopping is important, not only to those of us who find the action of shopping enjoyable and therapeutic, but to anyone who does not feel like being harassed by disgusting and trashy mall rats this holiday season. Smart shoppers will take their business elsewhere. Oakbrook Shopping Center and the Promenade of Bollingbrook are wonderful, clean, and sophisticated shopping complexes that have guaranteed higher reputations and will not let your standards down. more

For all of these mothers who are whining about having to pay for a stroller...shut up. Seriously, no mall in the freaking United States is going to please you. At least Fox Valley offers strollers, unlike most malls. Therefore, you should at least be thankful for their thoughtfulness. more

I am a proud parent of a three year old boy who i love to take out with me. I love to go to this mall. My point is that when i was coming to this mall i would either bring his stroller or get one for free at the mall all i needed to do was give an ID. Now recently my mom and i went christmas shopping and i took my son but when i got there i saw that i was going to have to pay for my son ride and for me to shop and be relaxed i think that when most people go shopping at this mall or any other mall they look forward to geting that free stroller that is why most people come and on that day i saw that a lot of peopl was unhappy about the new change to the mall. When i come to the mall i think of ways of being relaxed and comfortable to shop spend my money in this great mall yes my son may want to walk or ride or take of his coat or i want to take off my coat to shop wouldn't you or someone u know there r a few people that think that it is a lot of things they could do with ther money than spend it on a five dollar stoller that only give u a dollar back or that its not even worth it. Now i have to think if i want to come to your mall or should i just leave my son at home. maybe they should just get the free strollers back. more

It's super crowded, lots of rude packs of kids wanting to walk right beside each other -don't dare break their line! If you want to bring your kids here during the really cold months to ""get out"", forget about it. The two play areas they have are CONGESTED with wild, unruly children who could care less about the smaller infants. EVERYTIME I went there, there were least 2 groups of kids running rampant, stepping on smaller kids, jumping on top of the play items - and the parents just sit there and could care less about them bumping into other, smaller kids. I brought my daughters there around Christmas of last year - literally, there were 3 kids all trying to steal food and toys from the back of my stroller and their parents were smiling, saying, NO NO that's not nice...never mind that they kept trying and weren't listening. The parents didn't say excuse me or anything. No wonder the kids are like that. They are just kids but the parents don't teach them about respect. Yesterday, I was ""desperate"" again and went to look for shoes for my daughters. I don't even bother letting my kids in the play areas anymore. Once again, I peaked over and there was a little boy who was barely walking...maybe about 10 or 11 months old. The parents were trying to get him to play and go down the slide and 4 ROUDY kids came running on top of the infant, jumping on the slide and one of them stepped on the the little boys hands. They didn't so much as blink and where were the parents? God only knows! The parents of the little boy yelled at them and looked around to see if they would run back to their parents and they didn't. They just kept on playing oblvious to anyone else. I just looked at the mom and shook my head right along with her. Sad really. They have added a few new stores like Guess... that's nice but really the problem isn't so much the type of stores they have as the type of ""crowds they attract"". This mall reeks mallrats in a bad way... sorry. Pros: Convenience... Cons: Everything else... more

Croweded with kids and high schoolers, this is a great mall for, well, the teen and tween scene. It's also good to run in and get some quick supplies (like vacuum cleaner bags at Sears). But as far as ""real"" shopping is concerned, you'd be better off going to either the Aurora Outlet Mall, Oakbrook Center or, if you're up for a bit of a drive from the western 'burbs, going to Woodfield or even way over to Old Orchard. Pros: Convenient for western suburbanites Cons: Impossible to get a clerk to wait on you -- especially at Penny's. more

There is only ONE WAY to get to the food court for people with strollers: The ONE elevator that serves the entire 3-level mall. Of course, there are stairs, but who can use them when you have a stroller to haul? The elevator is large and fits a ton of people, so by the time everyone on it departs, the doors start to close and you miss your ride. There have been SO many times where I've frantically pushed the button on the outside to get the doors to open, but that never works. I've also almost had my hand squashed more times than I can count trying to get it to stay open. It's not exactly user-friendly and most definitely NOT a ""smart"" elevator. You just have to be very lucky that someone is still inside to keep the door open for you or get some large part of your body in between the doors so it can't shut, or just be super aggressive with it and get in there quickly. It's really a pain when that's the only option and the dept stores' elevators aren't going to do you any good because they don't go to the Food Court. VERY BADLY THOUGHT OUT. Pros: kiddie play areas, coupon kiosk at cust serv Cons: one elevator, poor lay out, bad store selection more

ah, fox valley. i knew thee well. when i was growing up in the sticks, going to fox valley WAS going to the city. it seemed huge; it was the ultimate shopping experience. good food court; gotta love the baked potato place. aside from that, you've got all your basics: field's, musicland, gap. everything a mall rat from the suburbs could dream of. more
