Four Square features Contemporary American cuisine, but the best part is, their menu changes monthly to incorporate the best of North Carolina’s fresh produce, fish, game and fowl from local farmers and such. The restaurant is located a restored Victorian-era house, which was built in 1908 and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each of the 7 dining rooms are small, but not squished. The house features original leaded and stained glass windows, unique fireplaces with their original wood, tiled and mirrored mantelpieces, a wraparound porch, original walnut staircase and heart pine floors, and a second floor balcony. The grounds feature a working kitchen vegetable and herb garden and a beautiful perennial garden. I have never, ever been disappointed with my meal here – everything delicious and succulent, from appetizers to desserts. We keep coming back for the rich experience and the incredible fare.
