Lucky to have them in the area 1/25/2010

We are an AF family who have used vets all over the country for our cats and dogs. We've also lived in this area on 3 separate occasions and used 3 vet practices here. We keep coming back to 4 Paws, and they are the best we've used anywhere. We've gone in for routine things, as well as some very tough to diagnose things that other vets missed. They will let you know if something requires additional expertise, and have sent us to a specialist in St. Louis before, but we still prefer Dr. Jessen and Dr. Jenner. Both are very, very competent; compassionate; will patiently answer questions without defensiveness (did not find this with the specialist) and will research to find you answers -- will consult with others who are expert in a particular niche. You won't go wrong with either. We have not had the young Dr. Bollmeier but were here back in the day when his father was still practicing, and he was excellent also. The only one we're not thrilled with is their new vet, but maybe she more

They're the Best in the area.... 8/15/2009

We've been with Four Paws for about 10 years now. We've tried a couple other vets but always come back to FP. Most of the staff is great and they always get us in same day when needed. We too have had to euthenize our kitty and they were wonderful and let us stay as long as we needed.\r \r As for the poster below and the account balance--perhaps she is confused. Most of our pets are shelter animals and the shelters don't offer to pay your vet bills--they run on donations afterall. Furthermore we did once have a billing descrepancy and it was resolved in my first phone call. \r \r They may be a little pricy but if you want to be sure you'll get excellent pet care and good service this is the place to go. more

Wonderful and compassionate 7/20/2009

I have used them since 1984 and they actually had to put my puppy to sleep after he contracted parvo back then before there was a vaccine. We used them for our next dog until we moved away and they were nothing but caring. When we moved back to the area we got an old english sheepdog who never saw another vet other than them. They gave her the best care they could and she lived to be 11 1/2 year old before she had to be put to sleep and they were very caring and compassionate about having to have her put down. It was a world of difference from when another vet at a different clinic put down my boyfriend's 17 year old mutt. I can't recommend them enough. Most of my friends also use them as their pets vet as well. They are the best. more

What great care and love, excellent bedside manner. 5/11/2009

I brought in my two dogs. One an outside dog and one an inside puppy. I knew before we got there that my outside dog had a problem as he was not keeping weight on him. I was sure I would be reamed for allowing him to get sick. However I was assured that all was well with both dogs and got them all of their vaccinations and rabies shots. They received wellness exams, heart worm tests, nails clipped and lots of treats. I even got blood work and anal checks on each of them. It turns out my dog has a tapeworm and it is a relatively cheap fix. He looks better already. Plus I received all of this work for under $200 which included 6 months of heart worm preventative medications for both dogs. What a great service at a great price! more

Best Vet Clinic Anywhere 4/29/2009

We have been going to Four Paws since we arrived here in Aug 99. At the time we had two Huskies and since then we have expanded to two German Shorthaired pointers and a rescued English pointer. We have received nothing but excellent care from Dr. Jessen at Four Paws. I won't allow my babies to be seen by anyone but him or someone recommended by him for speciality care. We have always received excellent help from the ladies at the front desk. They are first class all the way. As for the one reviewers comment about the pricing, Four Paws may be higher than some of the other vets in the area, but I believe in 'you get what you pay for' and I'm more than willing to pay a little extra for the fantastic care I have received from Dr. Jessen and his staff for almost 10 years now. more

Very expensive and unorganized 4/21/2009

We have 5 pets that go to Four Paws (3 dogs and 2 cats). The last several visits we have had to convince the receptionist that our pets have been there before. The problem was resolved each time only to have the same issue come up at the next visit. At this point I am still unsure if they will have my pets on record so I bring they're paperwork each visit. \r \r Our pets are rescues and their initial fees (spay, neuter, etc.) are charged to the shelter. These fees have been on our account since we got our pets as unpaid balances for us. I have spoken with a manager and have been assured that the fees are the shelter's and we will not be held responsible. Even after I brought this to the manager, the receptionist still asked for the "unpaid balance" at our very next visit.\r \r On top of the customer service nightmare we have been going through with Four Paws, they are very very high priced. We paid $580 for our cat to get fluids and a test run, no procedure involved.\r \r The only thi more

Great Vet 10/30/2008

Dr. Bollmeier was my family vet for 25 years until I moved away from the area. In those years, he helped to take care of 5 or 6 dogs and more cats than I can remember. He was always friendly and compassionate, both with his human patients as well as his animal ones. He is truly a great vet, and a wonderfully nice man. more
