Fort Street Cafe is not exactly located in the nicest part of downtown, but it’s well worth the walk through Fort Street Mall. Their pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) is very flavorful and the garlic shimp is both generous (I counted eight on a bed of steamed rice) and tasty.
The only dish I’m not as fond of is their fried rice. Voted “best fried rice” by one of the local magazines, it features shrimp, spam, and a hard-to-describe spice that gives it a unique flavor. I wish I was more enthusiastic about it, but it just doesn’t hit me in the right spot.
Prices are reasonable, with most lunches running around $6 plus drink.
