DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!\r To begin grandfather was a WWII and Korean US veteran. After the passing it took the funeral over 6 hours to retrieve the body and when they came it was 2 small girls to pick up the body. Why would they send small females to retrieve a body, luckily grandpa was small but they still had the AUDACITY to ask the FAMILY to transfer the body from the bed on to their stretcher! THE FAMILY SHOULD NEVER EVER HAVE TO DO THAT!!!! What if they were coming to pick up a 400 pound body?! The family had a meeting to discuss the wake and burial service, 21 gun salute and the same priest from the wake to do the burial. The wake was great, very nice facility. The family was notified the day before the funeral that the funeral home was double booked and the 21 gun salute was not possible for grandpa. Then, the priest did not show up to the burial!!! He said he was not coming because that was not what was discussed in the meeting when over 6 members of the family was there and know thats what they agreed on. Even if it was a missunderstanding you would think that the priest, who is just standing outside would have the sympathy to do the graveside ceremony. The staff is not friendly or sympathetic at all, they just stood and gawked at the family during the reception. We paid this OVERPRICED company to send away this veteran in a beautiful tribute and their lack of organization and sympathy did not allow that to happen. Such disrespect to a UNITED STATES VETERAN. more

I would recommend ?Lawndale Funeral Home? to anyone. Every staff member was courteous, kind and treated us with dignity and respect. From the minute we walked in to make arrangements for my Father?s funeral, we were made comfortable and ?at peace?. We were given cookies and coffee while we waited for the funeral director. When Rachel Garcia came in, it was like a ray of sunshine. She handled everything in such a professional manner and yet so personably. We left knowing that we didn?t have anything to worry about. She called quite often to make sure that all was being done to our satisfaction. Knowing that my Dad and Mom had been married for so long and that she was so devastated by his death, she called a couple of times just to ask how my Mom was doing. That is going the ?the extra mile? and Mom really appreciated that act of concern and kindness. My family and I were more than pleased and give our sincere gratitude to all those that participated in the viewing, funeral, and burial of our loved one. Pros: null Cons: null more

my dad bought his head stone in the 1960's. he died sept 2008. the head stone is still not up today 11/29/10. we've been talking to these people for more than two years about this and been given promises, and the run around. i whould not recommend this place to anyone. very sorry service. i have reported them to the bbb. more

This funeral home has some of the most compassionate people I have ever met. They provided my family with an elegant and meaningful funeral for my brother. From the moment we walked in to the follow up visits, I was completely blown away. The funeral home has everything for their families, from cookies to a golf cart for my Mom who can barely walk, these people will jump through hoops for you. I am so thankful to have found a place that will help you anyway they can and not try to take advantage of you. I personally have met with each one of the funeral directors to thank them for their kindness, Craig, Maria, Patrick, Rachel and Alicia. I visit so often I feel like the staff is my own family and they treat me as if I am. I would recommend this funeral home to everyone. Words cannot explain how thankful I am for all their help. more

Forest Park Lawndale recently helped with the funeral of my wife. I had no idea where to begin or what to do. The staff there guided me through planning a beautiful memorial for my wife. God sent three angels, Maria Lopez, Rachel Garcia and Alicia Cabrera. Those three ladies went beyond their call of duty to aid my family, even provided cell phone numbers so we could get ahold of them at any time. The suggestion of a dove release at the grave made it one of the most sad and touching moments of my life. Forest Park offers one of the most caring staff, most beautiful cemteries. This funeral home provided a service for my cousin on 11/21/2009. We have been requesting a copy of the death certificate since then and to this date 1/15/2010 still have not gotten it and the funeral home does not return calls or has offered any assistance in obtaining this. This is a service that the funeral home is to provide. We also paid for the obituary to run for 2 days at a cost of $385 paid up front. They only ran it for one day. We have written the funeral director, Maria Lopez, and called with no response or return calls. We have requested a refund for the one day with no response. This is not the way a business such as this should be run. more

This Cemetery and Funeral Home is located on Lawndale in Southeast Houston. When I first moved here, I was looking for the gravesite of a friend. The office staff had a funeral director look up the site and he kindly took me to visit the grave. They have very reasonable prices and are compassionate. Recommended if you need them. more
