Top Quality Food/Service 11/30/2004

I've ventured into this place 4 times this year and my most recent was probably the best experience I've had in a long time. The Kobe style aged steaks are amazing. The side dishes are very good too along with a nice selection of deserts. Most importantly they have a superb selection of wines which compliment the meals. The service is fantastic, attentive and responsive. A wonderful place for a romantic dinner or even to treat yourself or as a group eating out all dressed up (or dressed down). I'd reccomend that you try it out. Pros: Kobe style beef, Wine Selection, Service/Ambience more

5 star dining! 11/29/2004

I went here for the first time on a Friday evening at 6:30pm and had a fabulous experience. We of course had reservations, and were seated after 5 minutes of waiting. I had the filet that warmly melted into my mouth and my boyrfriend had the aged rib-eye that was cooked to a perfect medium- rare. I am very critical of the way my steaks are cooked because I've been a frequent visitor of 2 other steakhouses that are in this review, and Forbes Mill is by far the BEST steakhouse within 40 miles! more

Go Somewhere Else... 10/1/2004

The service is terrible. The food reminded me of a standard dinner fare at any major hotel chain. Some of my side dishes were hot and some were cold on the same plate. The steak was not cooked properly. The good thing I can say about this place is that they use good quality meat. Other than that, they do very well at failing in every other area. The timing of our dishes were off as well. There are many good restaurants in downtown Los Gatos so why not go elsewhere and have an enjoyable dining experience? I am so glad that I don't have to travel to San Francisco to enjoy a top notch steak. Forbes Mill is excellent. Steak that melts in your mouth, Excellent Wine list and great service. more

Well to all those who think that a trip to Forbes Mill isn't worth it, try again. HAve you ever tasted steak that melts in your mouth with a juicy finish bite after bite. You like sauce? Four to choose from...But prior to all of this you can have the caesar salad, and crab cakes - MMMMMMM! Try the spinach with the steak and whatever else you want, it's all GREAT! I can't believe all the bad hype I am reading, must have some amateur steak eaters out there. If you hate steak, go out on a limb and try the Short ribs...Out of this world smooth and decadent with a sauce that melts the palate. Creme Brulee is to die for too! Pros: Atmosphere, Hot Chicks, Awesome Steaks more

Our real problem was the service. During the appetizer and the main course, our plates were whisked (and I do mean whisked) away before everyone was finished, The result was that the ""slowest"" eater was left with the only plate at the table and having to apologize as being too slow. Not what I expected from a restaurant of this apparent quality. The final straw was my guest had her almost empty wine glass whisked away before she was done. In short, it felt like that they wanted us out so that they could get someone else to the table. To demonstrate my unhappiness, I left the waiter not the normal $60 but instead left one penny. I live in Los Gatos and for the life of me, given that I have a great choice of local restaurants, I can't see why I'd go back to Forbes Mill. Cons: , Fire the waiter more

Excellent evening 9/15/2003

We celebrated our anniversary with an excellent evening at Forbes Mill. It was our first time to the establishment and glad we made reservations. The place was packed, setting and sevice was good and the food was outstanding. We sampled the crab cakes and my Rib Eye (bone-in) was outstanding. One improvement- bar service was slow. more
