I cannot sing the praises of Won Yi and Jin, the owners of “For My Wedding” enough! Since I was a little girl I knew that I always wanted to wear my mother’s wedding dress and to make that a reality several alterations were necessary to accommodate my larger frame. I spent several weeks visiting well known and respected bridal boutiques in New Jersey, but it was not until I went to “For My Wedding” that I found a bridal specialist who understood my wedding vision and whose talent I trusted. Often in the other boutiques the alteration specialist would recommend dramatic alterations to my mother’s dress to make it more modern, not recognizing my choice to maintain its traditional sweetness, or would treat the dress, which is made of a delicate hand embroidered silk organza, roughly. Won Yi, however, treated the thirty year old dress as the treasure that it was. When I went for my first fitting, I almost couldn’t believe that any alterations were made to the sleeves or the bodice because they seemed to look exactly the same, and yet now fit perfectly. Additionally, she was able to transform the dress from its naturally aged ivory color back to its original pure whiteness, and meticulously looked over all the embroidery to check for snags or areas needing mending. Throughout the entire process, she and Jin were accommodating, cheerful, and professional. Also, most importantly, they were always honest with me. Like many brides, in my search for the perfect people to trust my wedding day vision with, I encountered many who would simply tell me what I wanted to hear to make a sale. At “For My Wedding”, though, I could always trust to hear an honest opinion and knew that their advice and insight were given with every intention to help me achieve my dream vision for the day and not to pursue any profit. For their advice and excellent craftsmanship, I will always be indebted.
