Folsom City Zoo

Folsom Zoo is known for being a place where injured animals who cannot ever be released back in the wild, can go and live out the rest of their lives in a safe environment. Over the years this zoo went from being a free, tiny little place to one that now charges a small admission ($4 for adults, $3 kids) but it now absolutely fabulous with larger enclosures that are more natural looking. We went during feeding time and it was great to see the animals being given such a variety of healthy foods (they eat a lot better than many low income people I know). Peacocks and roosters wander through the zoo and the park. You can take a train ride. You can buy a snack at the concession stand. You have to visit the tiny gift shop and buy a little reminder of the zoo with a big heart! more

The Folsom Zoo is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon with the kids. Animals just crave kids attention it seems. The monekys are the best feature, you can watch them for hours. And the elephants are cool for kids. I saw kids there watching the elephants and it was amazing how intrigued the kids were. And, in front of the zoo is a mini-train that you can ride in with a conductor. Very cool! more

The Folsom City Zoo is small but packed with lots of different critters, and is full of great information and education!! Located in the beautiful town of Folsom, California, this zoo is not so huge as to get lost, but is a good size for young children. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and it is a real treat to see this zoo!! My favorite was the mountain lion exhibit....I felt so close to the big cats!! The Folsom Zoo was a very enjoyable place to visit - something the family can enjoy at affordable prices!! more
