WHILE VACATIONING IN KEY WEST WE STUMBLED UPON THIS LIL RETAURANT AND I WAS CRAVING MEXICAN FOOD..(FROM TEXAS) AND I ENDED UP GETTING THE SALMON TACOS AND THEY WERE TO DIE FOR!!! THE CHIPS AND SALSA WERE EXCELLENT! LOVED THE GUACAMOLE! I WILL GO BACK EVERY TIME I VACATION THERE!! Enjoyed the food -- super chunky salsa, fresh chips, tasty sangria, excellent snapper and enchiladas. Only suggestion was in their seating policy. When we entered the restaurant, we asked the hostess if we could sit at a front window table, where we could watch the parade of passersby along Duval Street. She said she couldn't seat us there, because the server who served that table was not ""next in line"". So she seated us in the back of the restaurant. The next couple to arrive was seated at the same front window table we had requested, because they drew a different server. I asked the hostess why they seated patrons in that manner, and she said they wanted to keep their servers happy. Too bad they don't treat their customers as well! Everytime I go to Key West I make sure to stop by Old Town Mexican Cafe. It doesn't seem like much from the outside. In fact you could walk right by it and not notice it was there. But once you pass through the gates its as if you've left Key West and ended up in Mexico. The food is spectacular. Not pricey at all. Try the soup of the day no matter what it is. Once I was there and they had a pumpkin soup that was to die for. The portions are perfect in size. Not too big or small. I definately reccomend the sangria too. more
