From my three dining experiences at three different Five Guys Burgers, I have to admit that this is the most overhyped restaurant I've ever visited. For example, the only choice in how long your burger is cooked is medium-well or well done - both resulting in gray, dry, and crumbly meat. If you want a juicy, medium-rare or even a medium burger, you'll have to go somewhere else. \r

When asked why the paucity of choice, one employee was frank enough to say that, "the management isn't absolutely sure about the quality of the meat and they don't want someone to get sick and sue them". That frank assessment pretty much confirmed my suspicions. Oh, and if you want mozzarella or cheddar or provolone cheese? Forget it. You're getting artificially processed American cheese - a popular component for school kids' lunches but hardly the first (or second) choice for most adults.\r

If you like your burger made with overcooked and questionable meat - topped with almost-real cheese - you're gonna love this place. Otherwise, stay away and go to a Jacks Hamburgers (two locations around Ft. Lauderdale). They'll cook their fresh ground juicy burgers anyway you want them (though their cheese selection is equally cheesy).
