Fitz's Soda Bar & Grill

The food here is nothing to speak of, but the root beer is delicious - as it should be! I've never tried one, but the root beer floats are always tempting to look at! I'd say, skip the food, but pop in for a nice, homemade root beer or a float. more

On a recent trip to St. Louis we had a delicious meal at Fitz's in the loop. Fitz's is famous for the homemade which is brewed. Call ahead if you want to be sure to get there to watch the process, as they only do it certain times during the day. The root beer was available in a bottomless mug, and was wonderful. I had an Asian Chicken Salad with Candied Pecans It had grilled chicken, mandarin oranges, red bell peppers, roasted candied pecans, mixed greens and spring mix tossed in Asian dressing. It was $8.99. My daughter had a great pizza, and my husband loved the burger. We loved the place and will definitely put it on our list for our next visit. more

Fitz's is known for Root Beer, and when you go to eat here, its bottomless. So is all the other drinks they make (strawberry/grape/orange sodas and so on). Their burgers are divine, and they even have items that are veggie friendly. All huge portions, even the salads. This is very popular for the whole family since you can see the bottling of the drinks and the kids meals come in cute paper retro cars. For the adults upstairs is (the smoking section) some pool tables. The outdoor patio is great for people watching and it is well shaded. Beware when ordering the float, its 3 large scoops of ice cream ON TOP of a mug of rootbeer. You need to eat around it in order to get the ice cream IN the mug. Its HUGE (but worth it). more

Fitz's is a fun place to go with the family. Their burgers and sandwiches are very tasty. Fitz's soft drinks are a favorite with our family anytime but especially when we are getting them from the source. A fun way to order the drinks is to get a bucket of sodas which have an assortment of different flavors. I am assuming they still have these available even though it has been awhile since I ordered one. The Delmar Loop area is a fun place to shop and walk around and Fitz's is just one of the great dining options. If you are spending the day in the Loop make sure you have Fitz's on your "to do" list. more

We went to Fitz's because we were STARVING and the Melting Pot was closed for lunch. Because Fitz's is a bottling company, we decided it was basically a requirement to start with a fresh tasty soda. Mom got the traditional "rootbeer" and I had grape soda- a taste of childhood. Both were well above average and served ice cold- can't beat that! Before my mother was even a 1/3rd done with her rootbeer our server brought out another glass. Then when she was about 1/2 done- ANOTHER for mom and me! at one point, including water , 2 people had 7 glasses on the table! Crazy! can't say we went thirsty though. Oh food was also good, but standard. I had chicken fingers and mom had a burger. Portions were HUGE and I would encourage splitting-- especially if you come into the restaurant starving and get an appetizer like we did. And for heaven's sake, get a soda. more

Fitz’s is a St. Louis tradition almost like it’s neighbor Blueberry Hill, but it is a newcomer to the loop. Fitz’s root beer has been being brewed for decades and can be found in the Washington, DC offices of Missouri’s senators. If you go, you must sample the root beer or other fresh brewed drinks and the rest of the food is very good but nothing special. more

Fitz's is known for the root beer and other soda they make here. Their burgers, pizza and other food are good with VERY large portions. The many dessert creations are just as huge. This is a place where an ice cream float is served in a mug sitting on top of a plate because it will be messy. Sitting in the dining room you can see the soda being bottled through a large window. Upstairs there is also a small game area. Fun meal for kids of all ages. more
