Best

My family and I are in Galveston on vacation and decided to stop by the Pleasure Pier construction and noticed the FishTales restaurant directly across the street. We stopped in ...

Worst

We've been to Fishtales three times, and the place needs a good cleaning! If you sit on the balcony, watch for a repeat of Hitchcock's 'The Birds', but if you don't mind raptors ...

Typical fare. 7/27/2005

I had wanted to go by this restaurant everytime I visited Galveston, but never got the chance to. When I finally did I was terribly disappointed. The menu is unimaginative and pretty typical. The Mai Tai was average. The bill was overpriced for the quality of the food. The patio seating was nice for people watching, but I will not be going there again. more

Big Fish Story... 7/3/2004

This was our initiation into Galveston Seawall food; my husband and I had just arrived to live only a few blocks from the restaurant, and it was our first meal on the island. We were VERY pleased with the food. The lump- crabmeat-and-shrimp-cobb-salad was heavenly (sweet crab, succulent shrimp, mild avocado, smoky bacon...MMMMMM!!!); also I HIGHLY recommend the shrimp appetizer that is stuffed with cheese & jalapenos & fried (sorry, can't recall its name). AWESOME!! The service was okay; we were never kept wanting for anything except sodas a few times. I guess my only real gripe is the price -- over $100 for 4 people! OUCH!!! (no alcohol; I think we split two appetizers & each of us had an entree). Pros: FABULOUS food!!!!, Cobb Salad, Appetizers Cons: , Noisy for a weeknite more

BRING YOUR GIRL 2/12/2004

I suggest everyone visit this place. I have lived in Houston for 21 years and I just wanted to say, BRING YOUR GIRL here. This is probably the closest to CALI, FL, VIRINGIA settings you will ever get. Tell them you want to sit up stairs outside... around 6 pm. It was just beautiful. The wait was average time, but that's understandable because they are fantastic. Everyone wants to be there. Anyhow, food is simply delicious and medium in the pockets. GREAT PLACE! more

Not a waiter in sight!!! 2/3/2003

We tried to eat at Fish Tales on Friday night at 8 pm. There LITERALLY were ONLY 10-15 people dining and yet waitstaff was everywhere. We were seated at a dirty table (clean tables were everywhere!!) and were told someone would show up to serve us. Never happened. The hostess finally gave us drinks, since our waitress was busy with ""phantom"" diners. After sitting for a near 20 minutes, I said we were leaving, and suddendly one appeared...but only to tell us the glass of Coke we ordered was $2.05!!! Can't comment on the food since we never reieved service...but now I see it a blessing for us! Pros: cute interior, nice location Cons: the waitstaff, "teen music" playing, RUDE help more

OK Food - Bland Service 1/31/2003

The food at Fish Tales is not bad, but I would just not expect much from the service. The waitress could hardly speak up, spoke very softly, and constantly had to remind herself of our order. The atmosphere is nice, and would be fun with a large group. Just do not go in with high expectations and you will do fine. Pros: atmosphere, view of ocean Cons: food is bland, bad service more

Great view, OK service, good food 12/26/2002

We've been to Fishtales three times, and the place needs a good cleaning! If you sit on the balcony, watch for a repeat of Hitchcock's 'The Birds', but if you don't mind raptors in your food, the view is great and people-watching is extremely interesting. The grilled tuna sandwich is EXCELLENT, otherwise, there isn't much 'affordable' selection. The service wasn't bad-but they seemed awfully busy for not many people, and they stuck us by the restroom one time, and by the register the other...so basically in the median of a lot of unwanted traffic! Pros: view, food Cons: expensive, service, dirty more

A must when visiting Galveston 11/23/2002

My wife and love the old world charm of Galveston Island, we take several mini vacations there each year and Fishtales is just a must each visit, never a bad experience. Truley a class act. Pros: atmosphere, relaxing decore, great food more
