FORGOT CATERING ORDER!!!!!!!! 10/27/2011

Ordered Catering for 50 people via web; got confirmation email. Called 2 days prior to event to verify "all is ok"; staff confirmed order was ok, took my credit card info....NEVER SHOWED UP! Called on day of event and was told "sorry, order fell through the cracks." NICE. Pros: null Cons: null more

very good pizza, friendly environment 7/23/2007

This is a great place to go with friends, everyone is sure to find something they like on the Menu. I have been a few times and only once did we have to wait long for a table (the girl actually messed up and forgot us, but then sent us home with extra free bread to make up for it) and the service is generally good. Don't expect the BEST pizza ( you have to go to New york for that) but overall a good choice. Pros: good food, friendly place Cons: parking can be a pain, may have to wait on friday/ sat nights more

Tradition and History Still Left in Hartford ... 10/19/2005

First & Last is one of the few restaurants still left in Hartford that holds great history in its walls and still puts great food on your table. Generally inexpensive (especially for the many college students living in that area), great atmosphere, great service, and always funominal food (ie. Neopolitan pizza and Antipasto). It's a small restaurant that stands just in front of Goodwin Park. Old pictures of the city of Hartford and famous faces that have walked into the establishment cover the walls, and beautiful built-in wooden booths and old Italian restauant feel are inviting. It's small, so if you have a large party make a reservation. If you come on the weekend be prepared to wait, and parking is fairly limited so look on the streets or across the way at their newly built bakery. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Parking more

Excellence in a town that could use more 7/6/2003

A native and current resident of Hartford, I can honestly say that the First and Last tavern is truly one of the best restaurants around. I live about 1/8 of a mile away and on hot days when there is a gentle breeze you can literally smell the garlic up the street! A must try for all.... Pros: Inexpensive, Great Atmosphere, Clean Cons: Hardly any parking more

The Food Critic 3/6/2003

Whatever the reviewers have written down here is not true. Food is expensive, ambience is poor, parking is a battle, service is slow. more

Best Pizza in CT 1/2/2003

The First and Last, especially the original restaurant in Hartford, has the best Eggplant Pizza in CT! I believe it's the layer of Riccotta cheese that is under the eggplant that makes it so special! I've had eggplant pizza at another restaurant and it was aweful! The First and Last is the BEST! Pros: inexpensive, good variety on menu, laid-back atmosphere Cons: not enough parking, crowded on weekends more

Ol' Faithful 11/27/2002

I have been going here for years...great food and overall experiece consistently. more

Great Pizza 11/14/2002

My favorite pizza...anywhere. It would be better if less people new how good it is, because sometimes it is difficult to get in. Pros: Great Food Cons: Too Popular more

Great Pizza, Service is Not So Great 11/1/2002

The pizza is great, but the service could be better. We had a bad experience there with service a couple of times. Pros: Pizza, Atmosphere Cons: Service more

Most Delicious 10/31/2002

I love First and Last Tavern. They have the best food all around but the pizza is extremely delicious. I have never tasted pizza that good before. Maybe it's because that was my first date with the same guy I'm with for 3 yrs now. Who knows, all I know is that I wouldn't have pizza anywhere else! Pros: Decent Price, Good Parking, Friendly Staff more

Not So Unless.... 10/8/2002

thin crust, cornmeal base - not for the lover of median firm crunchy crust. This pizza more whimpy and requires 2 hands to hold the slice so toppings don't slide off. Pros: quaint booths, inexpensive, great pasta sauce Cons: small, noisy, little parking more

The best eggplant pizza on earth! 8/30/2002

All of the specialty pizza's are excellent, but the eggplant is amazing. Highly recommended! more
