Editorial review from Citysearch 5/3/2013

Stay away from this place. \r 10 years ago my car was leaking power steering wheel fluids. I went to Firestone and after paying $300 and drove the car 10 min to home I see a fluid leaking in my driveway. I went back to them and they told that is transmission fluid. I do have some knowledge of those things and I can recognize the different of transmission oil and power steering wheel fluid. I confronted the mechanic and ask for manager and ask to have the car up to see where the leak was coming from. In front of me, the manager tells the mechanic that he had used low pressure pipe instead a high pressure pipe that should had been used on the power steering wheel. But he tells me that I need to pay again for the repair. I left and ended up buying a new car.\r 8 years later they had winter tires on sale. I needed new winter tires, so after 8 years from my first bad luck with the Firestone went there again. As I was ordering the tires I was told that the tires I was ordering were not on the sales list. I had to show them the flyer and the type of tires I wanted. They gave me the sale but as a “favor” to me.\r Lately my car had a recall and the dealer that fixed the recall also told me a few things I needed to fix and gave me a price ( dealers price) . I thought as was time to change my tires also fix my problems at the Firestone. Firestone came up with 2 time the price the dealer gave me plus asking for things that dealer said are OK. I asked not to do the repairs. I went home to pick my wife to drive the car back home. As we get to the parking lot I see a tow truck in front of my car. He was towing my car as was told by the store manager\r Again Stay away from this place \r \r more

!!Danger, Buyer Beware!! 1/25/2012

As a former employee, I feel obligated to informing the public about the business practices at this establishment. What Jennifer said is completely true, the upsell at firestones not just this one weymouth, quincy, boston, leominster you name it has the same angle. They do free inspections and they write up whatever they want, as a former employee I saw multiple false estimates written and executed. Mechanics has free reins to write whatever they choose and then given to the back or front desk to have the work sold. Brakes that need adjustments sometime are reccommended to be replaced, we would charge $59-69 per set of brakes that we would have autozone deliver for $15. Rotors that could be cut and used we would reccommend to replace them at $89 a PIECE when we would only pay $18 for them, the way things are over priced is crazy. If your an elderly person beware management will try to befriend you and whomever accompanies you and then take advantage of you. I reccommend taking you ca more

I bring my wife's car here for oil changes, overall inspections, and tires. Adrian that works there is as honest of a mechanic/service person as I've met, and I recommend all my friends and others to go in for great deals & good honest work. \r \r They stayed late for us to service her car before a big trip we were taking...we will continue to use them. more

Suspicious Repairs 11/15/2010

The service is slow. Three hours for a tire change. On two (2) occasions in a one year period they offered to repair damage that they found on my car. The odds against having the particular type of damage that they found happening more than once are astronomical. Draw your own conclusions. more

Greedy A Holes 9/21/2010

I parked in their empty spacious lot tonight for all of 10 minutes while grabbing a pizza across the street. When I came outside, my car was getting towed! Apparently, the greedy lowlife owner installed cameras so that s/he can tow cars away within minutes! Since I live close by, I had considered using them for service. Now there is no way I give this thieving douchebag any business and encourage everyone to avoid this rip-off joint. Try Sullivan Tire down the street instead. more

Worst Experience ever 11/23/2009

I went in for an oil change and tire rotations but guess what they did they wore out my brakes. I drove everyday with my car fine but i knew i had some life left on my brake pads so after the oil change adn tire rotation. they gave me an estimate to get my brakes done and filtering and everything for 700 dollars when i got everything done under 200 dollars. So while i was driving my brake pad stopped working so i couldn't brake when i drove there it was fine when i drove it out for at least a mile my brakes were gone. They totally messed my brakes up and did something to it. Don;t ever bring your car to them they will mess it up more

Worst Experience With Mechanics in My Life 3/7/2009

I went in to Firestone on Friday to get my lower ball joint and CV axle replaced. After hearing the price of 550 I was skeptical but agreed as I was tired of the clunking noise. Then TJ, the person who I spoke with, told me ""Here's what I'm going to do for you."" I'll inspect the car and make sure that this is the work that needs to be done, because you never know, this may not be correct."" I'm thinking yea sure why not. So I get the quote, Sign off, and get picked up because it was 6 and they close at 7, not enough time to do the front end work. \r I get a call at 9 in the morning with an urgent message to call TJ immediately to discuss additional parts and problems with the car. He listed off an arsenal of issues which brought the car over 1100 dollars. With my morning now riddled with auto-dispair, I called him back and discussed the problems eventually deciding to wait on the additional work. He said he would let me do my own oil change to save 10 dollars. wow gee gosh thanks Mr. that should lighten the load. \r \r I waited for a call telling me my car was ready but it didn't come. I decided to call around noon and they said it had been all set since 10. No call? awseome!!\r \r I hitched a ride to Firestone and walked inside to grab the keys, pay, and bounce. But what's this?!?! the cost is only 43 dollars? Why? Oh..you didn't do the work I originally asked you to do besides the oil change and inspection that cost 20 dollars. Which, by the way, was never mentioned to me the previous day. \r \r I walked out dumbfounded that nothing was finished but an oil change and inspection that I never really asked for but was conned into getting(watch out for TJ). I was upset I wasted a day on this company, yet happy that I didn't waste my money on them. \r \r I can't blame the workers here, but the company has some major flaws. The communication breakdown was at the heart of my complaint, but the fact that Firestone mechanics are bound by the numbers on their computers and there is no leniency or bargaining. Drivers Beware! Pros: Near my apartment, workers have friendly demeanor Cons: Overpriced. Untrustworthy. Incompetent more

Can't be trusted! 5/28/2008

We originally took our 2004 Saturn Ion to Firestone for a tire replacement because Firestone tires were on the car when we bought it. I called them because the car was making a ringing noise that sounded like it was coming from the front wheels. The technician on the phone acted like I should bring the car immediately because the sound ""didn't sound good.""\r \r After three hours, they diagnosed the problem as two things: the brakes were 95% gone and the ""front right bearing"" was ?loose.? I let them fix the brakes but called Saturn about the bearing. Saturn said that if the bearing was actually in need of repair it would be covered under the warranty. The technician at Firestone, though, made it sound like the supposedly loose bearing was urgent and asked me how much highway driving I did because ""I don't want you out there on the highway at high speeds with a loose bearing."" \r \r Well... The bearing is fine. According to Saturn it is worn but not ""loose"" and is certainly not a safety issue. I asked the Saturn tech if this was something that could need to be replaced in a few months and he said he's only seen a few of these EVER need to be replaced on the Ions.\r \r When I called Firestone to complain, Chris, one of the managers, offered to ""visually inspect"" the bearing himself. But there's nothing to ?visually inspect? since this problem is only diagnosed by the sound it makes and the handling of the car.\r \r Long story short- Firestone tried to take me for about $300! The technician who tried to SCARE me into an unnecessary $300 repair was ?nice? but was lying through his teeth! I also paid them about $30 more for the brake job they did than what the dealership would have charged. They do have a price match guarantee so I'll be going back to get my money but that's the last time I will step foot in a Firestone!\r \r P.S. The one in Braintree tried to sell me $400 worth of tires I didn't need when I had about 20,000 miles left on the ones on the car. more
