Firefly On Paradise

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Las Vegas and I love introducing friends to it. The tapas style menu makes it great for small to medium sized groups. You also get a lot of variety for a very reasonable price. I?ve tried almost everything on the menu and this is my list of favorite dishes and the ones I?d pass on. Favorites: Artichoke toasts- My boyfriend who doesn?t even like artichokes, likes this one. Stuffed Dates- Great flavors and textures. The sweetness from the dates and saltiness from the bacon and blue cheese are such a wonderful combination. The red wine reduction really brings it all together and the almond adds a nice crunch. Albondigas- Just well done meatballs in marinara. Ham and cheese croquetas- Fried meat and cheese, it?s a little hard to go wrong there. Merguez- A flavorful lamb sausage served with red pepper and tomato confit. The sweetness from the confit compliments the slightly spicy sausage nicely. Firefly* fish sticks- Fried tilapia fillets with a great texture and usually perfectly cooked. (Once when they were busy, the fish sticks came out over cooked.) Fried calamari- Well done calamari served with a garlic aioli. The aioli can be a bit pungent, but not enough to deter me from this dish. Camarones a la diabla- Shrimp in a sweet and slightly spicy Asian influenced sauce. Passion fruit mini-cheesecakes- The passion fruit flavor just explodes in your mouth; perfectly tart and sweet. Pass on: Tuna peppers- Tuna salad stuffed in marinated sweet peppers. The tuna salad was nothing special, and the peppers were a tad too sweet for this application. Stuffed peppers- Little peppers stuffed with cheese and topped off with a tomato sauce. This dish was boring compared to the others. It reminded me of not good Italian food. Crispy duck rolls- Let me start off by saying duck is one of my all time favorite foods. With that said, these were a complete disappointment. The filling in the rolls was so overpowering you could not taste the duck. It really tasted like a bad egg roll. On another occasion my friend, who also loves duck, ordered these and agreed they were not very good. Paella- This was edible, but certainly nothing to rave about. It was missing that nice crust on the bottom of the pan, and the texture of the rice was a little too sticky for paella. If you are near the strip and want Tapas, I would suggest Firefly* over Cafe Ba Ba Reeba. The food and prices are better. If you are looking for a pitcher of tasty sangria, choose Ba Ba Reeba over Firefly*. Ba Ba Reeba adds hard liquor to their sangria for a nice kick to compliment the sweet fruity beverage. The food is sooooo good! The Mojitos a must! The service boring, unenthusiastic, and not friendly, not personable, management not supportive, loved but will never eat there again. Customer Service means everthing! more

This is by far the best restaurant I've been to in Las Vegas. Some may say the portions are small, but this is what Tapas are all about... you get a little of everything and I can assure you, there was not a dish there I have regretted ordering. All meats are perfectly seasoned and cooked, dishes are very creative and have the perfect balance of flavors. Prices are very similar to other Tapas place everywhere. 2 people may eat and get full with 5 tapas at an average of $8 per tapa. Given the quality of the food, I think the price is superb! the ambiance of this place is very enticing, and the food is so freakin good! The only downside is that the service takes forever, but its so much fun to just go with some friends and hang out, you wont even notice how long it takes...as long as you get a pitcher of their awesome sangria! If you're looking for unique Las Vegas dining and don't want to spend an arm and a leg, try Firefly on Paradise. It's located off the strip, but well worth the trip. The food is spectacular, and affordable, and the mojito's are the best I've ever had. Try the pomegranite mojito...awesome! \r It's usually pretty crowded so you know it's good. I would not recommend Firefly. The food is average and the service is terrible. Way too crowded and cramped in there. Move on, there are plenty of other places that are way better near the Strip. more

Firefly is amazing! The service is friendly and fast and the food is yummy :) It is very busy, but it is worth the wait. If there is a long line and you have a small party look for places at the bar. Excellent place to meet up for drinks, but don't expect to have a romantic dinner for two. This place is overcrowded and LOUD. Getting your bill and receivigg refills at this place is a nightmare. Order everything you want in the begining because there is a great chance you won't get a second go around. I guess that is the price to pay for trying to dine in an OVERCROWDED place. Also, the food is excellent but super tiny portions (I know its tappas style but DAMN-it's like they cater to Mary Kate's anorexic Twin.) the price is NOT worth the three bites of food. more

We went to Firefly with a party of 6 and had a blast. It's fun to order a lot of tapas and share. They have a large selection to choose from and almost everything is really good. Order with a pitcher of tasty sangria. It is always very crowded and a little tight inside but lots of fun. more

My husband and I always do happy hour here at least once when we are in Vegas. We stuff ourselves with food and drink and then crawl next door to Dragonfly for some sushi. Gluttony at its finest! Pros: Mojitos, sangria, and tapas...also amazing service! Cons: Can be crowded on weekend nights more

We went to Firefly on Paradise Road Las Vegas Feb 22/08 for a birthday dinner. They don't accept reservations for groups of less than 7 people so we arrived at 5 pm to ensure we could get a table without too long of a wait. We were a group of 4 adults and one teenager and were seated right away. Service was excellent. Before we arrived in Las Vegas I had reviewed the dinner menu at the usmenuguide website so I had an idea of what I wanted to order (it was my birthday dinner after all!) For the five of us we ordered about 10 different dishes plus some doubles as we all wanted to sample everything and we were a hungry group! We had the albondigas, ham and cheese croquetas, mac & cheese, ceviche of shrimp, tuna tartare, stuffed dates, terra y Mare skewers (shrimp, filet mignon and chorizo sausage), chicken skewers and filet mignon sliders. Between the five of us we devoured every single bit and enjoyed everything and each one could have been a favourite. The plates were not brought out from the kitchen all at once so we didn't feel rushed but we were in and out of there I think in under an hour. Go early to avoid a lineup. Ask for assistance from the waiters if you're not sure what to order and enjoy!!!!! Cost for our dinner was about $125, not including the tip, for 5 people. Firefly is a cool place, but much more for the trendy crowd than for the foodies, like me. It was really loud and crowded. The menu did not have anything very adventurous, in fact quite the opposite. The ""french fries"" tapas were ok. So was the manchego mac and cheese. The grouper was very dry and plain. The salad was acceptable, but the empanadas seemed small for tapas. The albondigas were boring meatballs with no real flavor. The best thing was the paella, and I've had much better.\r \r If you are looking for great tapas, this just isn't the place. The line to get into the restaurant was long so I knew the food would be really good. It did not disappoint. The portions were small so for 2 of us, we got about 6 dishes. The stuffed peppers and the shrimp diavlo were to die for. The waiters were very prompt and making sure we were always taken care of. The food was tasty and the sangria was really good, not too powerful. Good to go with a group as well, very lively inside. And after dinner, you can always go to the bar next door to dance it all off. Pros: Yummy food more

We loved Firefly. We took a taxi from the strip and was able to get a table on a Monday night. We enjoyed their Sangria and some of my favorites include Albondigas (meatball), grilled octopus, mac&cheese, grilled shrimp, mixed meats on a stick.\r The wait staff can get too busy so sometimes you'll have to raise your hand to have them come over.
