Finch Tree Surgery

The trees here have been trimmed by the Finch family for at least 50 years, since Fred Finch was a crew chief for another company, before he struck out on his own and my mother followed him. My parents bought this house 46 years ago. \r In my experience (probably at least 25 times) the Finches' service has always been good, reliable, fair, and safe for their workers. Probably at least twenty percent of their employees have been with them at least twenty years. Don't know if they still do, they used to do a lot of work for the Huntington Gardens. There was one small hiccup about 10-15 years ago, which may have resulted from my father giving different instructions than my mother and I had. No, they aren't the cheapest. The people who estimate are certified arborists, not hired off a street corner. You get what you pay for. more

After using several tree trimmers over the years, I tried Finch on the recommendation of a friend. They were the first and only tree trimmers that I have ever used that don't butcher the trees. I always get compliments on my trees when they have been trimmed.\r \r They are timely and clean.\r \r You pay higher for their service, but unlike a bad haircut, a bad tree cut takes years to recover. more

I heard Finch was good so I used them for trimming my oak trees. Their bid was higher than others, but I wanted it done right so I was willing to pay the premium. Well I didn't get what I paid for. The workers were left unsupervised and the trees got way over-trimmed... more like butchered. Took years to recover. more

I exchanged emails with the owner who was quite responsive and directed me to another employee (Rod M.). He failed to respond to two emails. I called a few weeks later and asked for the owner but was directed to Rod's voicemail. I got one message from him about a week later, and then never heard back after I returned that call. If they treat prospective customers like this, I'd hate to see how they treat any customers who tolerate this poor introduction. Do they ever show up to do a booked job? There are enough competitors that I'll look elsewhere. more

I have used Finch Tree Surgery services for more than 20 years, at two different houses. The owner is extremely knowledgeable regarding trees and schrubs and when and how they should be cared for. The pricing is very fair. Schedules are met, the crew is on time, the trees are beautifully shaped when done, and most of all -- the yard is left spotlessly clean; they even clean the neighbors' yards when leaves fall on their property. I wouldn't use anyone else!! more
