I have had nothing but problems since opening my account with Fifth Third Bank. From day one I have had charges on my account that were not correct, from check fees to overdraft fees that I had to point out and argue to get them reversed. To top it all off i got a debit card in the mail that magically started making purchases without my authorization. In return i get stuck with hundreds of dollars of overdraft fees. The best part is it takes 120 days for me to dispute the transactions. I am currently a student and live paycheck to paycheck. 300 dollars could make or break me. They stated if I do not pay then they will ruin my credit with collections. When I called the 1-800 number the lady was very rude and told me there was nothing she could do for me. Yes that is correct, the customer service representative said she was no help to me. I called my bank and told them of the charges and that i did not authorize them. They said that some items had been returned so i could not dispute them. But they still charged me the overdraft fees on those items. Does it seem fair to you to charge me an overdraft fee on a transaction that was returned? So mabey in 120 business days they will make it right. Also there is lots of fine print you miss when you sign up for a FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT. It cost 9 dollars to transfer funds between checking and savings. You have to write a check to yourself to withdraw money at a branch because they do not have withdraw slips. Checks are 20.99 and they automatically charge you for them. Overdraft fees are the highest out of any banks. While they do a great job greeting you and making you feel good about banking with, its because they are ripping you off and they have to do something to keep you there. Look at it from a moral perspective...its not right!
Pros: Nice people as long as ur account is over $10,000
