Glad 5/12/2011

My Saturday night 7-course "feast" at Fez provided a fun distraction from the din of the holiday season. I was glad I was there with good company because the night stretched out longer than anyone could have anticipated. The delicious pickled carrots that came with the salad and the truly excellent whole chicken that we tore into like savages. The meal was a decent value for the $25 price tag. The belly dancer brought her A-game, dancing at least four sets of 15-20 minutes apiece, with ~30 minute breaks in between. The crowd really got into it, and many people got up to dance with and tip her. Now, if you do the math on the time-frames that I listed, you will see that we were at Fez for a LONG TIME. In fact, we were there for well over 4 hours. We enjoyed the pace of the first half of our meal, and were pleased that we were not being overly rushed. We ordered a "Tangerine Dream" hookah, which ended up being a surprise highlight of the night since we had ordered it primarily for the novelty. The smoke was very smooth, and the flavor was pleasantly reminiscent of Tang, leading to amused speculation that perhaps it is what the astronauts smoke. more

Good food and reasonable prices 5/9/2011

Good food and reasonable prices. I've been with 2 large groups of about 10, and a trio. All were comfortably and quickly seated. The seafood bastilla and mint tea were easily the best part for the meal. The decor is cozy, if a bit cheesy. It feels like walking into a hideaway of some 50's movie about the desert, more than a slice of Moroccan culture. Unfortunately, I've yet to go on a night with belly dancers more

Sets the standard 5/6/2011

This kind of sets the standard for what I consider to be an awesome hookah place in a strange new city. We rolled in around 10pm on Sunday, knowing from the Yelp app full-well that they were going to close at 11pm. So we get seated and get right to it - we want the tequila sunrise hookah because that name just sounds awesome. The decoration is legit & authentic. The walls are covered with cloth, the windows are blacked out from the street with the same cloth, there are the cloth hangings coming off the wall, and the lighting is dim to make it seem authentic, something straight out of one thousand and one nights. The tables are round and are organized in a lavish lounge sort of setting. The waiter guy was nice, friendly, and was doing a rockstar job of checking in on us and the coals. Hookah for three people came out to $27. Not exactly cheap, but at least not exorbitant compared to some hookah places across the country I have unfortunately visited. My return visit scheduled and on the books has already incorporated this place into the itinerary. more

Fun and romantic 5/2/2011

A fun and romantic place to go when you are tired of traditional dining. The hookas, low seats and weekend bellydancers are a bonus to the delicious food. more

there are better restaurants 5/1/2009

Fez is dark inside and rather small. Some of the food was tasty, most was unexceptional. The 'experience' is eating very messy food with your hands on an etched brass table that would be difficult to clean well. the soup was served with wooden spoons to eat with. How does the board of health let them do this? The service was OK, our waiter was pleasant. Service is very leisurely, they don't rush you. Dessert was oranges, apples and bananas. I can eat that at home. The belly dancer was fun and tried to engage the customers. There are much better restaurants, I won't go back here. Pros: appetizer platter & belly dancer Cons: eating messy , average food with your hands more

Ludicrous 3/1/2009

Sneaky, profit hungry, and just wrong!! I went with a group of 11 people to enjoy the "Weekend Special" Fez Feast...your typical moroccan outing. The menu is misleading..and the prices on the bill pop-up from nowhere. We were charged a 20% gratuity - as stated on the menu for parties greater than 5 - which is completely understandable to me, being a waitress, although should be the the guests choice to tip above 18%, according to service. On top of the gratuity we were charged a $105 clean-up fee..which clean up is normally a part of the job description for a waiter. Our grand total including some martinis and mixed drinks came to $650!!! The food came to $275..so the rest comes from some crazy place (not everyone was drinking). The menu is misleading...it doesnt mention the price of the hooka...just says "available upon request" The food was not very good...i could've made it myself..not an exaggerating! The fruit at the end is whole fruit. I love exotic food and countries, but i would have rather spent that money at a really nice delicious restaurant. My advice is to save yourself and everyone you know some stress and money and DO NOT go there!!! Please spread the word. Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: sneaky cheating prices into bill more

worst restaurant ever! 1/30/2009

this was my first time at a morrocan restaurant and i hated it! i was so excited to come here for my 21st bday with a group of 11 friends of whom made reservations but we had to wait 20 mins(it was freezing and raining outside)! the place was dark scary and had a zombie movie vibe. i was unsure the moment i walked in. The waiters were unattentive. there are no options on the weekend, must get 7 course meal! He spilled soup on two of my friends, there wasn't enough room to fit us i was very dissappointed. The service was horrible, based on additional reasons we left as soon as soup came out and they made us pay for the whole meal regardless if we took the food with us or not. and added gratuity when we didnt' even stay for more than 20 mins. we took the food bc we were paying for it, tried it and threw it away. i was asking for my cake and they said one of my friends took it already i asked if he was sure and he said yes. so when i meet up with all my friends at home, they said none of them had my cake! that place ruined my birthday! everything i tasted was so bland, no flavor at all. not worth your money. you're better off going to your favorite restaurant even if you go all the time. theres a reason you go there all the time. listen to these reviews! Cons: small area, bad service, cheap decor more

Will be back!! Favorite Restaurant 12/2/2008

Fez is a very exciting restaurant to go and eat at. First of all, we had a birthday party for my wife, a group of 8 people. This wasn't the first time we went to the restaurant, we have been there several times. My wife told me she wanted to have her birthday party at Fez, so we did. It was a Saturday, and we had the great 8 course meal. The food was excellent! We brought a cake with us and gave to the waiter to keep it refrigerated while we ate. The belly dancer brought the cake out while they played a "Happy Birthday" song with a sparkling candle on the cake. The belly dancer did a couple shows during the night. We had 2 hookahs, with 2 different fruit flavors. The food there is excellent. The style of the restaurant is very diverse from many other restaurants that you would normally eat at. It has a very beautiful Moroccan theme, the waiters also dress like they are from Morocco. The service from the waiters is very good, they make the time much better. We recommend Fez for any amount of people and for any occasion. Everyone should come and eat at Fez restaurant. more

everything was very good 12/1/2008

we had a party of 12 people and we had the 8 course meal but that was really lots of food and we all were sharing the food as a morracan family at home and it's $ 25 per person which is very good price for all this food. the food was amazing, the service was more than great because the waiters always smile and joke with the customers to make them happy and comfortable, we all loved the Hookha and it tasts so fruity. my friends and i advice u to go there to chuck that beautiful place out because my friends and i will never stop going there till we die. lols :) more

worst experience ever 9/17/2008

Fez restaurants is the worst restaurants in philadelphia, not only because they prices are super high or because they never realy clean up the place ( they think its dark inside and you cant notic the dirt all over the place) but because you cant take any hot girl over there! simply because the people who work there is so disrespectful, start from the owner, a nasty fat guy who think he is a hot sh*t with a lot of cash that can flirt with all his girls customer, too many comments out of place, especially for those who wanna use the bathroom or in other words passing by his desk toward the bathroom. here is my experience: even i keep give that place another try they the have no idea what is customer service or how to talk with thier customers, if you wanna go there dont take your girl with you or even your friend girls because when they come running to you complaining what comments they made about them when she were trying to use the bathroom you will feel like breaking down the place just like i did, watch out for the camera in the bathroom ! more

Worth the Experience 3/23/2008

Fez is a restaurant that requires an open-mind. If you bring one with you, your experience will be very memorable. The atmosphere is one-of-a-kind and alone makes the restaurant worth the trip. The food is pretty good, though not excellent. It is not the type of restaurant one could go back to over and over again. Bring a large group and have fun! more

Fez writing reviews for themselves... 3/18/2008

I just wanted to point out that someone at Fez is writing reviews for themselves. Look at the user profile anaminu. If you are looking at view all reviews, you'll see that there is another user called anamin, who rated this restaurant as 1 star. So someone created a profile called anaminu, which has only written 1 review ever, which is for fez, and given it a 5 star rating, and a very biased review (best Moroccan restaurant ever? Give me a break...). If they are rating for themselves, I think that is pretty pathetic, and definetly discourages everyone from going there. It's not a horrible restaurant, but definetly needs to work on service. The food was good for me personally. Mostly went for the hookah though. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service more

worst place ever!!! 2/29/2008

this restaurant is TERRIBLE!!!! mainly because the food tastes TERRIBLE!!! i've never had morroccon food before so i was excited to try something new but THAT WAS THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!! the food tastes bad mainly because it didn't have flavors or atleast it's not flavors that normal people would like. They do give you a lot of HOOKAH!! just have to have over 20 ppl to get it free!! drinks are expensive,if you get the 7 course meal get the vegetarian one and get ready to pay 30 dollars b/c tip is 20%. o verall don't go there if don't HAVE to!!! more

Fez Morroccan Restaurant 12/21/2007

Fez has to be the best restaurant i have ever been to. The food is great and prefer the food over any other Moroccan restaurant. The service is excellent. I love going on weekends, not just for the food, also for the belly dancers for entertainment. Best time of my life when we had a birthday party of 28 people! Also on Wednesday, they have a belly dancer and there is a free hookah. Great atmosphere. Pros: Food, Service, Entertainment, Partys, and Atmosphere Cons: No Cons more

Service is soooooo bad 9/4/2007

I have never experience service like this before. Our waitress never came over to us to see how we are doing. Not once. She actually ripped the check out of my hand as I was paying, without saying thank you, not even saying a word, and of course, the tip was included in there already because we had like 8 people, so she figured she could act like a stuck up, and obnxious. Who does such a thing? Seriously. I saw her work at Byblos before, so don't go there either, stay away. Oh, and the iced teas were soooo small, and when we got refills, they charged us for every one. We didn't know until we saw that the bill had 20 iced teas on it. Seriously. What the f? The food was OK, but one "meal" was a bad apple, and a banana. Another meal we had to eat with our hands, which was fine, if it wasn't 98 degrees in temperature, scolding our hands. So, save a trip and your money - go somewhere else! Pros: None Cons: Service, atmosphere, food more
