My husband and I had The Festive Board cater our wedding in January. I found it to be an easy, reasonably priced and wonderful process. more

I have too much to say, and it won't all fit here. Ed is nice from the beginning, but after you pay him any money, he turns rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. more

The Festive Board's professionalism and skill is evident beginning with your first planning meeting. Ed, the owner, has an amazing ability to help the bride and groom think through what they want (even when it is a bit quirky -- like a tower of whoopie pies instead of a wedding cake!) and to make suggestions to build a great menu around those choices. Trust Ed when he says, ""Let's put money aside for now and talk about what you want; then we'll see where we can cut back to fit your budget if we need to."" The price was very reasonable, the food was delicious, and even though the wedding was at a farm site that offered no kitchen, the Festive Board team was able to serve a cocktail reception and 230+ delicious hot meals without a hitch. I spoke to Ed after the wedding and commended him on both the food and his amazing staff -- he said he was lucky, but it's clear that this is a well run company and that the employees are a cut above. They thought of everything and were helpful beyond the call-of-duty. When we were delivering things to the site earlier in the day, the Festive Board staff saw some insect foggers we brought. They said, ""Just leave those, we'll take care of that"". No bugs all evening! The bride and groom had asked if Festive Board could bring two chairs with arms -- it's a Jewish tradition to hoist the bride and groom in the air on chairs. No problem; when we arrived, not only were there chairs with arms but elegant throne-like chairs! It was a hot day, we had not discussed this but the Festive Board staff delivered bottles of water to guests waiting for the ceremony to begin. And, recognizing that they had probably not had anything to eat during the cocktail reception, the staff brought a plate of hors d'oeuvres to the bride and groom as soon as they sat down at the reception. At one point I saw a guest tell a Festive Board staff person that there were no paper towels in the men's room -- even though this was clearly the responsibility of the venue, Festive Board, recognizing that the staff of the facility were unlikely to respond, was prepared with extras and happily furnished them. Most importantly, we had a guest who had a very serious medical emergency. She just put her head down on the table. She had not been feeling well all evening so even the other guests at her table didn't realize the trouble she was in. The Festive Board staff person (who had asked her a few times previously if she was OK or if she needed anything) went right over, realized she couldn't be roused, and went directly to the DJ asking that he stop the music and announce the need for anyone with medical training. Her willingness to take initiative beyond what anyone would expect literally saved this person's life. The food was great, the price was right, and Ed is a treasure when it comes to creative menus and getting all the details right. The Festive Board staff could not be more helpful, responsive, and a delight to have supporting your special day. Don't hesitate to use Festive Board to assure great food, that all goes smoothly, and to guarantee your day is everything you want it to be! more

We had an incredible wedding reception! From the first meeting we were confident that this service would be the best choice for our important day. They provided that as true without a doubt. Ed's energy and friendly personality made it possible to work with him. We always walked away from our discussions feeling excited and secure. This organization was remarkable and was apparent that they had more than enough experience in working with wedding receptions. We appreciated your understanding of our budget and working with us to fulfill our hopes in an affordable fashion. Your insight certainly saved us both time and money. The staff was pleasant, courteous and more than helpful. They worked together easily even with last minute changes that were requested. While visiting my sister recently, we went to the Festive Board Deli and really enjoyed it. The baked goods were very fresh and the quiche we tried melted in my mouth. I went to this deli for the first time the other day and I can't stop thinking about their bread! I don't get over to Queensgate area much, but I will make sure I do around lunch or dinner times often! The bread was awesome! We were kinda crammed in like sardines and it was over lunch rush hour and we ended up eating in the car. I got on line to find out more about them and their hours and stuff. I saw that they do catering and I want to do something special for my parent's 50th anniversary this summer. You can bet I will call these peolpe. I saw this review place and just had to tell everyone else about them. Gotta try it out! Pros: Thumbs up for freshness. Sales girl named Steph was very friendly and polite. While living in the Phiadelphia area, we were planning for our wedding here in York COunty. This meant we were looking for a full service caterer that would answer questions, handle our requests and make decisions without too much direction for us. From the moment we walked into the Festive Board Deli we knew something special was about to happen. Ed sat with us and listened to our ideas for a feel for the atmosphere we wanted for our wedding day and were totally appreciative of what we wanted to present to our guests. Once we agreed on the menu, you were able to arrange for all of the rentals we needed, from chairs to silverware to a generator. The only thing left for us to do was to show up. The tent was up, the tables and chairs assembled. Through the challenges with the rain, your staff stepped up their commitment. The food was absolutely delicious. The bread was freshly baked, the fruits and vegtables fresh and the chicken juicy. We can't forget the pastry and bread centerpieces were beautiful and unique. The wedding cake you created for us was the highlight of it all. All of the guest were raving about the food for weeks after the wedding, only a testament to what you are able to provide your guests. You were able to come through with what you promised. Ed and his staff are to be credited with making our wedding a huge success. more

The Festive Board Deli in York rocks! I never thought I would be one to post a message, but when you eat here, you'll understand. Our order was prompt and the service was friendly. The atmosphere was cozy and clean and felt like mom's kitchen. We went over our lunch break and didn't spend the hour in line waiting. This is a nice alternative to fast food. The Festive Board catered my wedding this past August and I couldn't have been happier! The food was unique and very tasty. The presentation was very creative and above expectation. The owner of the Festive Board and its staff went out of their way to ensure that we were well taken care of. The entire experience was very easy and hassle free for us--Ed took care of everything and really made our big day special! If you are looking for an accomodating caterer---call the Festive Board! Brides please beware!!!! I contaced the Festive Board for my June 07 wedding and was promised many wonderful items for my guest to enjoy. But of course after I paid in full my $5,000 bill my wedding day was nothing like Ed promised. The day before the wedding I was told they had no tables for there food items for my outdoor wedding. Well, we managed to gather up family members to save the day and bring me some tables. Let me start by saying that I was not a hard to please bride and I have many pictures to prove my point. The appetizers were agreed to be crab imperial puffs, scallops wrapped in bacon, and mini white pizzas. My guest did not even know that scallops wrapped in bacon were there and the crab imperial puffs were rolls of bread. The salads were served to the guest on small bread plates which were the just a few pieces of lettuce. There were no onions, tom, cucumbers, or even a few crutons at $40 per person. I was told that the dinner was going to be a stationed event not a buffet line. The list goes on and on right down to the wait staff helping themselves to the open bar. The owner owed us $300 and told my husband that after the reception he would go the mac machine and bring back the money due to us. Well he never returned. After our honeymoon we contacted the Festive Board by phone and letter and we were told that he wanted to make things good. Well, one week later we received the $300 he owned us. Please get everything in writeing and be careful who you trust on your big wedding day. The Festive Board is not the caterer for you, trust me!!!! Unhappy Bride. Festive Board is a great deli. Everything from daily specials - meals, sandwiches and soups - to excellent cheeses and meats. The owner and his staff will make any sandwich you like...just order up. Also, a good selection of pastries, cakes and cookies. Busy on Saturday at noon, but service is nevertheless fast and friendly. Take out or sit at a table and eat. Pros: Feels like a deli, some unusual food items, great cheeses and meats, daily specials, available parking outside and seating inside Cons: Very busy on Saturdays around noon more
