i went to fatty cue because I had read Frank Bruni's twitter stating how awesome the food was. The space is really cool...no sign yet, bu the told me they're working on it. The front room has a copper wall and a venetian plaster ceiling that reflects the lamps that are attached to the bar. Very cool effect. The menu reads like a flavorful fantasy for lover of meat...and fish! This, I quickly learned, was no regular bbq joint. The meats are all smoked and served as composed plates. A beautiful pork tenderloin is sliced thin and served at room temp with a n herb salad and smoked fish mayo. Mixed together it was a pure delight. The chicken was tender and smoky and served with a sweet, sour and spicy sauce that just set it off. I also had the best dish of clams I have ever tasted, cooked with curry leaves and there own smoky bacon. I had a couple of cocktails and then we ordered a bottle of Champagne...they have the coolest little champagne list, and let me tell you, champagne, bbq, and those vibrant flavors made me happier than I have been in a restaurant in a long long time. I'm going back later this week it's so good.
Oh, and if it weren't for the Champagne, the meal would've been a real bargain...I read some folks complaining on other sites about the cost. These guys are charging next to nothing for what they're putting out...I wouldn't waste my time getting over there, that's for sure.
Pros: perfectly cooked meats with innovative flavors
Cons: i don't live next door
