My VW Jetta broke down on the 210 and Fast Autoworks was the nearest mechanic. I was told that it was probably my thermostat and the part would be in the next morning. I found a hotel and stayed the night and came back to the shop the next day around noon. The car was not done yet and I waited a bit. I was quoted $299 for the parts and labor. I asked the owner if he had lots of experience working on German cars. He assured me, but I had a feeling he was not being honest. He finished up the job and I left after paying the $299. I drove around the block and my car started overheating again. I came back and the owner told me that it may be another part. He never gave me an estimate and ordered it. He reassured me that that he was not going to charge me for a diagnostics test or labor. It all ended up being an additional $367!!! I paid the money and got in my car. The engine was running and the thermostat was a fourth of the way to overheating. I had to drive from Arcadia to El Paso. The owner told me to not turn the car off and pay someone to fill up my gas tank while keeping the engine running. The time I was to leave the shop was after 6pm on a Friday evening. The owner wanted me to drive all night through the high desert and not shut off my engine. The car was not even fixed!!! I told him I could not leave with the car like this. I paid more money and got another hotel room for the night. I arranged the car to be towed in the morning.
Do not have major work done at this shop!!!!!! If you do, make sure you have an estimate up front.
