Everything you read here that is negative is pretty much the experience I've had - 1. dry cigars true 2. Johnny , owner, annoying, loud, obnoxious, and rude to his customers when he's in the shop. He never stops talking to his employee, but ignores all of his customers. 3. Fraud - I can def understand the users who think he selling fraudulent cigars - one of his workers did tell me he's misrepresenting a lot of cigars. Look at the actual product. The bands and product don't match up. 4. He writes all of the 5 star reviews here - notice all of those 5 star reviews sound the same, or like an ""AD"" that's b/c Johnny writes them. Go to his facebook page for famous - he ""likes"" his own posts! LOL Def will be going to Uhle's and using the internet for cigar purchases in the future. His cigars and ""humidor"" on Brady St. are a glorified closet. What a joke. AND he raises the prices a $1/cigar every year. RIP-OFF. more

Mecca of all cigars shops 8/18/2009

This place is amazing, i cant belive how many selections of cigars there are. Waliking into there humidor was like walking into paradise. it was one of the greatest stores ibe ever been in everything was sterile and beutiful . the men who work there are better than the ritz carltin bellhops combined with space marines. i thought i was getting the ususal treatment until one of the guys got down on his knees and started sucking my shaft. i was grateful but wanted to continue to shop when i asked him to stop he simply pulled out a cart and wheeled himself around whole sucking me off the whole time it was quite an impressive feet. i couldnt find what i was looking for and asked the manager to help me. he simply turned around and walked into the back of the store. 2 seconds later ROCKY PATEL himself walks out of the back room and makes me a cigar and signs it. it truly was the greatest day of my life and i cant recommend it highly enough. Pros: Moving platforms Cons: dudes did noo have breast implants more

Fishy is fishy but FRAUD IS FRAUD 2/16/2009

I'll be frank. I'd rather by swisher sweets from the gas station than anything at this place. The guy who owns it is completely obnoxious and was obviously coked-up out of his mind on the few ocasions I was there. He tried to sell me knock-off Cohibas, and then dropped a line of bullshi+ about pre-embargo Cuban cigars on me. The most recent time he tried to sell me Davidoff seconds. Fair enough I thought. I imagine the cigar would have tasted exponentially had I dipped it in toilet bowl cleaner. Coincidentally I called a friend of mine from college who owns a cigar shop in Champagne Illinois. Apparently, Davidoff does not produce or distribute ""Seconds"" for the consumer market. My advice to the little guy who wears the hat all the time is this:\r \r 1. Sell your store on Brady street to the people who own JR. They run a better operation.\r 2. Stop false advertising. Even if you are just exaggerating, you are still breaking the law.\r 3. Hire people who know what they are talking about. (You should probably catch up on your reading too.)\r 4. Get a humidor that works. Every cigar I've smoked from there has fallen apart.\r 5. Cater to your market. Cigars are a luxury item. Your store looks like a head shop. Get with the program. Pros: Free cigars when CAO comes Cons: Just about everything about the store. more

Not So Solid 11/25/2008

Went in the other day excited to grab a cigar with my buddy. The prices are way to high. The staff didnt know anything about cigars and i would 80% gaurantee that his smoke of choice needs no ageing (ie....weed) \r Will not be stopping in there again\r \r \r just my two cents. Check it out for yourself Pros: close to home Cons: prices and service more

Who does this guy think he is? 11/8/2008

If you pay close attention to all the posts, you might notice several of the earlier posts all sound like they are written from different user experiences by different people. You will also notice they have poor ratings. Then you will also notice several 5 star reviews that all sound like commercials written by the same......owner perhaps? The best part is that the guy is trying to market this place like some sort of hip south beach hang out that happens to sell cigars. Does this guy realize he is in SE Wisconsin? Cheese curds. Local breweries. Friday fish frys'. C'mon buddy. Get with it. Just run a legitimate cigar shop and lose the gimmicks. No one cares if an NBA has been and some ""cigar girls"" work there. \r \r We want fresh, authentic, fair priced cigars sold by knowedgeable employees in a sanitary environment. \r \r You failed on all accounts during my visit last month and apparently others agree. And stop posing on this site, your ability to come off as different people has really flopped. Its bad.\r \r In conclusion, remember, this isn't Miami. Its Milwaukee. Now do your job. Pros: Comedy? Cons: See: Scathing Review more

Famous Smokeshop brady street has the best selection in the midwest 10/22/2008

I was shocked when I came across Famous Smokeshop Brady street. We dined at Cempazuchi, and after dinner decided to stroll Brady street when out of the corner of my eye I saw this tropical glow and warm ambient cigar shop !! Much to my surprise, this store was loaded with exotic boutique cigar brands that are hard to find across the country, let alone all in one shop !! A cant miss on Brady street- Famous Smokeshop !! And great prices too !! Pros: Awesome selection Cons: none !! more

Best of the Best-Famous Smokeshop Brady Street 10/6/2008

Famous Smokeshop on Brady street is one of the top ten super-premium cigar shops in the city. While the competition sells bundles from JR and other companies, Famous Smokeshop is one of a handful of stores who have genuine factory seconds from most of the major manufactures at fractions of the prices of other shops. Also presented in this exotic location are some of the best super-premium cigar rands, as well as a panoply of imported cigarettes and a vast array of smoking tobaccos, all presented in a sparkling upscale Miami-themed high energy smokeshop !! Famous Smokeshop open 11am to midnite every day on Milwaukees high-energy Brady Street !! The second home of Michael Leopold !! Pros: Excellent service late hours Cons: Nick and mike leopold !! more

If you love cigars this is not the place for you! 9/30/2008

While the selection here might seem OK, on closer inspection this store leaves a lot to be desired. 1)The cigars are kept too dry and will sometimes leave a bad/old taste in your mouth. 2) The staff isn't very knowledgeable or helpful. 3) The 'seconds' are just J.R. cigars with the bands ripped off. 4) Prices on average are about $1 to $2 to high compared with other stores (with better preserved cigars). This store itself is usually dirty, and the owner ""Johnny"" is extremely annoying (Note: He and his employees wrote at least 3 of the previous ""highly recommended"" ratings). Johnny seems to be a yahoo who is more interested in gouging the customer than creating an enjoyable smoke shop. \r Instead of Famous, try Uhle's downtown. It's still kind of pricey, and the displays are less than ""hands on"", but it does have a relaxed atmosphere and ambiance of a true cigar store. Pros: Late Night hours Cons: Owner, Prices, Staff, Parking, Cleanliness more

Must be a fraud 8/9/2008

I was amazed to see the stupidity of the owner of this shop-that he would actually go as far as to have him (and one of his employee's-sblzrd65-) post 5 star reviews on here. It is hardly a five star store. Most of the time when you walk in you hardly get a hello, and me as a newbie in the cigar world need some guidance-this was definatley the place to get it. Not worth the time or energy to even step inside.\r \r And p.s.- Johnny, sblzrd65...your self promotting doesn't work, people aren't stupid more

Dried Out Cigars 4/9/2007

I stopped by because i heard that Famous Smoke Shop had good cigars. Well they had Staff who don't know anything about fine Cigars. They where lazy didn't even come from behind the counter to help. I look in there case's and found dried out cigars. There pricing was way to high. So i left with out buying a thing. I will never stop there again and will tell my freind not to bother. Pros: nice location Cons: parking, dirty store, staff who didn't know anything about cigars. more

Sells counterfeits! 3/31/2007

I purchased a handful of cigars for a bachelor party a few months ago. When I got them home I noticed that the Cohiba that I asked for was actually sporting the Cuban version of the logo on its band, yet it said ""Republica Dominicana"" underneath. I dissected the cigar and discovered that it was also a short filler. Definitely not a Cohiba or anything close. I search Cigar Aficionado?s website and found this particular fake.\r \r I am not a pro when it comes to cigars, but I do know enough about them to know that most major brands are produced both in Cuba and in countries that can sell to the US. In most cases these are completely separate companies and have different logos on the cigar band. The real Dominican logo looks NOTHING like the Cuban logo. \r \r If Famous Cigars did not know they were fakes when they bought them, then they are not a competent cigar shop. If they did know, then they are unethical. In either case, I will never purchase cigars from here again. Period. Pros: Not much. Cons: Fake cigars sold as the real deal. more

A cigar oasis on Milwaukee St! 5/21/2006

One of my fave cigar stores! They have a good selection ranging from low-end to high-end! The only place I know where you can find Greycliffs, Isabellas and Padron Anniversarys always in-stock. I love the fact they they are open late so you can stop by for a post-prandial panetela when running from dinner to drinks. Their summer cigar-tasting events are fantastic. It seems like every month you can stop by and they will have free cigars, food, and specials. Last summer they had a cigar roller in the store rolling free cigars! Pros: Good Selection, Late Hours, Cigar Tasting Events Cons: Parking more

knowledgeable and extremely customer friendly 11/10/2005

About time !! Finally a shop that actually cares about there customer. On the three times I shopped at Famous Smokeshop, I was always treated like a king !! The shop is lively and colorful, the selection extraordinary, and the customer service was unbelievable, relaxing and extremely helpful !! I found the selection to be finely tuned and unique, and very reasonable. This smokeshop is among the top three that I have visited across the country, and I cant believe that a shop of this high caliber lies right here in downtown Milwaukee !! A must stop shop !! Pros: customer service, selection, presentation more
