Very good ribs 7/2/2008

I've gone to this place probably 7 or 8 times now. They have true Texas Ribs (I'm a Texan so I know what they're supposed to taste like) - Very GOOD. Finally someone who knows how to truly make great tasting ribs that are smoked long enough to melt off the fat. Very good brisket, decent sausages, and good burgers. The only thing I disliked were the riblets on the appetizer menu - just plain nasty!!! more

Famous because They told you so 10/25/2007

I'm not usually one to write a review, but I believe I have to offer counterpoint to the other reviews. On my wife's suggestion and upon reading reviews we decided to go to Famous Dave's. I was skeptical due to the fact that it's a chain (which doesn't generally scream 'barbecue' in my book) and my sentiments were furthered when we arrived at 8 on a saturday night and the lot was empty. The food - I ordered the Texas Manhandler sandwich with beef brisket, smoked sausage, and ""hellfire"" pickles. With a name like 'hellfire' you would expect some good hot pickles but instead I got bread and butter which I despise. The sausage was not smoked but charred and the brisket, well they shoud call it roast beef because that's exactly what it is. I consider myself to be a Q connoisseur and Famous Dave's is not barbecue at all in fact, it was the second worst bbq I've had besides Barbecue Street in Kennesaw. If you're in the area drive a little further to Windy Hill and go to Old South. For really great cue, go to either Swallow at the Hollow (Roswell), Harold's (S. Atlanta), or Sam and Dave's (Marietta) and if you have to go to a chain go to Jim and Nick's which is a pleasant suprise. Pros: Location, parking, choices of sauce Cons: Food more

The reason why I stopped cooking BBQ 6/14/2005

I fell in love with Famous Daves from the first hello. And they are the reason why I stopped cooking BBQ, why spend 4-6 hours smoking Q, when you can have it served to you in 15 minutes. And just as good as my own, without the hassle. Favorites are the ribs, they use to have a double smoked ham sandwich, which was awesome too. The bbq wings are a meal in themselves as well. Have tired about a dozen bbq places here in Atlanta, this is by far my Q joint of choice. more

Best In Area! 12/19/2004

Absolutely the best flavored beef brisket I've tried in the Atlanta area! Their barbecue sandwich (beef brisket) and fries are WONDERFUL! The potato salad and beans are great too. The ham is good, but nowhere near as good as the barbecue! Pros: Flavor more
