Famous Dave's

Went here on Oct. 6th 2012 to celebrate a birthday and anniversary, 8 of us in our party, we had to wait 50 min. to get seated and we called ahead, they don't take reservations. The service wasn't that great; the server came out and told us they were out of tri tip for one of our plates so we got brisket instead. The tri tip, that was served could not be eaten! all fat and gristle the one bite I did eat it tasted like what I imagine a burnt log would taste like, we complained to our server and she brought out one serving of brisket to replace the 3 servings of tri tip that we couldn't eat. The cost of the food here is not worth what you get!! more

Great barbeque joint! Good food at a good value. Approx $15 for 2 meats, 2 sides, 2 slices of toast, and heavenly cornbread muffin. It's not South Carolina, but it's as close as you're gonna get in Portland. Half the fun is the sauces, varying from sweet and tangy to dragonfire hot, all ready at the table to be sampled. I wish I lived closer :( Great service too. The server accidentally double charged my account, and after an hour of trying to get Bank of Evil to correct it, I called the GM Nick, and he was able to fix the charge in 2 minutes. more

I ate here today with family and me and my mom are both sick. After I ate I had a sensation to throw up and trust me things are coming out both ways. I ate the ""Sassy Salad"" and if I might say I was trying to play it safe by getting a salad. This sucks. The service was just okay my waitress acted like she was too cool to be serving us. I do not recommend it. Food is overpriced and disgusting. more

Having lived in the South for 9 years, we're always on the lookout for good BBQ in the Vancouver/Portland area. My in-laws recommended Famous Dave's after visiting their Everett, WA location. I still cannot believe we drove to Tualatin from Vancouver specifically for less than mediocre BBQ. Perhaps 13+ years in restaurant management has made me hyper-critical but the food here was unforgivable. I have to agree with another reviewer - the ribs were terrible. The meat was tough, poorly seasoned, and very hard to pull off the bone. The brisket was kind-of OK but nothing to write home about. Sadly, even the Wilbur Beans & other sides were a disappointment. The decor was cool for the type of restaurant it is but the service was lacking. We received very little attention after our food was delivered to the table - except, of course, when it was time to pay. The waitress was quick to return with the credit card slip to sign. Typical... I see no reason to return. The hunt for good (even adequate) BBQ continues! more

We've been here on 4 occasions now, and will be coming back often. I have found the menu to be hit or miss as far as the ribs (not falling off the bone). That said, I have found my perfect meal of to die for BBQ pulled pork and Buffalo wings (some of the best I've had) the sides are all quite good as well. Then if you still have room, they have a killer bread pudding to finish you off! more

OK, so when I first discovered Famous Dave's in the Midwest, I fell in love. Living in the NW and being deprived of great BBQ, I was excited to learn that Famous Dave's was coming to Oregon. I have to say, that I've eaten at the Tualatin Famous Dave's 3 times, and each time, the Ribs were not the same as what I experienced in the Midwest. Maybe they're not slow smoking them long enough, but each time I ordered them, they meat was tough and stringy, not the fall off the bones and melt in your mouth Famous Dave's experience I enjoyed in the Midwest. I spoke to management each time to let them know that my experience wasn't good as compared to other locations, and was given excuses each time about ""the bite"" of Portland taking all the best ribs, or the staff is new, or whatever excuse du jour. 3 strikes and I'm sad to say, Famous Dave's is out, at least here in Oregon. If you want good bbq, try Podnah's in NE. That's REAL HONEST BBQ now! more

Much better than the typical National chain restaurant. The country antique theme fits perfect with the phenomenal barbeque food. The All-American BBQ feast was incredible and is perfect for those who crave several BBQ items. I highly recommend this restaurant for small to large groups and it's very family friendly. more

Will eat here often. Pros: Great sauce choices, Meat is perfected, Large dinner portion Cons: If you are a vegitarian you might not find much. more
