WORST VET I'VE EVER BEEN TO! I've owned several animals over the years. I have never had to question a veterinarians competency until I encountered Family Pet Hospital, specifically, Dr. James Burchett. He is an arrogant, money hungry, and uncaring business owner. I refuse to call him a veterinarian. He prefers purebred, well behaved animals and endangers the lives of pets he finds an inconvenience or not perfectly behaved. His main interest is in the $$$ of working in the veterinary practice. I never once had a bill that was not higher for the same service every time. He almost killed one of my animals by admittedly over sedating her because he was "worried about getting scratched or bitten." The patient was a 15 year old de-clawed cat. He said "the safety of his employees had to come first." Come on! He is in the wrong business if he expects to never encounter claws or teeth. 4/2010: While I do think Dr. Burchett is a great Vet I have recently been very dissapointed with this clinic. \r \r I have used them since 2007 and LOVED their boarding services (especially the Sunday pick up option)... however, with the recent addition of some of their new vets and techs as well as their new location on Tiny Town Road last year, I really think their service has suffered. I DO NOT like Dr.Price at the exit 11 location --- her demeanor with both myself and my dogs has been less than satisfactory. She strikes me as someone who is "not a dog person" which I can't understand... \r \r In my last dealing with test results Dr. Burchett took over a week to get back to me, after leaving several messages. While I truly think he's a great Vet I'm not willing to pay for poor services. Unfortuantely, I have decided to find a new vet. more

well Ileft my animwal yesterday for declawing and neutering and I specifically told them to call me if there were a problem... when I came back my cat was completly freaked out and had lost a canine... and they did not really care because I have already paid anyway... Dr James Burchett shows the exact meaning of a person caring and loving their profession. They took care of both our Shelties we had to put 1 down due to being paralyzed and he took the time for us to make the decision. He helped us make a difficult decision but his heart and caring nature made it a little easier. When we told him our other sheltie had a heart attack and passed away he was very sorry for our loss and they sent us a card for both dogs. Not many places have such caring and wonderful staff. They will always be our vets. more

The staff at the Family Pet was very friendly and the service was quick. The office is very clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this vet. Great location, easy to find and very professional!!!! more

We had a pet emergency on a Sunday afternoon and Dr. James Burchett told us to meet him in 15 minutes. That is service. It was not a life threating emergency and he knew this. He was still willing to see her right then. I would recommend this place to everyone. They are very caring and friendly and it is hard to find a vet who would drop their life to come in and see your pet on a Sunday afternoon.
