If you go to this place, go for the kitschy atmosphere and good company, but eat somewhere else before you go. This place was an insult to Italian food, and the cooks should be ashamed of themselves. The chicken parm had square pieces of processed white cheese resembling a polyester blanket on top that I peeled off with a fork. The fettuccine alfredo lacked flavor, and the spaghetti congealed into a pasty, thick brick. Speaking of bricks, the chocolate cake was dry -- I saw piles of it left by our family members. \r \r Italian is fairly simple to cook if you buy fresh ingredients and keep it simple. Go to Carraba's instead, where they take care in what they cook. more

Great for large parties on short notice. We had 16 people in town for the holidays and needed to find some place to accommodate. Food was plenty and fun atmosphere. Ordered couple pasta dishes and pizzas. Will come again with large party. more

It was alright. I didn't mind the family style sharing aspect of it, but the food was nothing to write home about. Nothing I've had there the times that I have gone has kept my interest. I don't even remember what I ate there. That should tell you something. I would rather find a local italian spot to go to. more

The first time I went there, it was "WOW"... after that, the portions and the price did not add up. There are better out there for the money. But if money is not an issue, the experience is fun... more

This place is a rabbit warren of comfortable rooms covered wall to wall with old photos and posters that run the gamut from amusing to downright disturbing, but the overall effect is quite nostalgic of a not quite defined era - maybe the 50s. The Italian American food is served family style and meant to be shared. Although the lasagna was absolutely the worst I've ever had in my life, in fact so bad that our dinner companions who previously loved the place can't bring themselves to go back, the other stuffed baked pastas are delicious. The sampler that features shells stuffed with an intriguingly seasoned sausage, spinach and cheese mix, chicken cannelloni, cheese ravioli and cheese and spinach manicotti is our must have dish, but we've also liked their thin, crispy pizzas. I find their chicken marsala not bad but rather syrupy and recommend chicken or veal saltimbocca instead. The table in the kitchen looks like fun, and they always parade you past it to let you know it's an option, but you must remember to book it in advance. It's a great place to go with family or friends, rather a lot of food if it's just two of you. The staff are friendly and good humored. Two thumbs up. more

Great family dinning. Not your ordinary Italian restaurant, if you are lucky you might end up sitting in tha table inside the kitchen. Beware, huge portions. Enough to share. more

It's alright, but I don't like their red sauce, it's way too acidic. Anything else that doesn't take red sauce is fine. more

One of a very few chain restaurants that I heartily recommend. This particular restaurant is my favorite by fat. Friendly staff, excellent food, great environment. Well worth the visit! more

Are you kidding me?? 4/23/2008

Trust me! I grew up in an Italian family - parents from Bari and Sicily. Buca is FAR FROM REAL ITALIAN FOOD! It has a nice, fun and friendly atmosphere, but the food at best is average. The pictures on the wall are great to look at - in fact, that would be the only reason I would return to Buca. Sorry, but if you're looking for authentic Italian food, this is not the place. more

Great Conversation starts here! FUN AND FILLING! 4/12/2008

THE BEST PLACE FOR SHY PEOPLE AND GREAT FOR EXTROVERTS! Pros: BEFORE YOU DINE THEY TAKE YOU ON A TOUR STARTING WITH THE KITCHEN, DID I MENTION THERES EVEN SEATING AVAILABLE IN THE ACTUAL KITCHEN Cons: If you're sitting in the kitchen seating remember people will be passing you by all the time more

Kudos to the Woodlands TX Bucca Di Beppo location 11/19/2007

This is my 1st "rating" for an Houston area restuarant. The Woodlands TX location was discovered because my husband's office is within "lunch" hours...we started visiting it at night and found the location to be "customer-oriented, fun, informative, excellent in service, full of ambience, family-oriented, reasonably priced, & delicious, with family-sized portions. Over the past year, we have introduced many other family and friends to this establishment, with positive reviews! For the food selections, my husband is the "spaghetti & meatballs" guy, while I prefer the Alfredo-based sauces, but we both agree on the salad and bread appetizers! This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants.... more

Great place for a group dinner to eat, talk, drink and be loud (if needed). 5/14/2007

The only time that I have been here was for a birthday dinner. It was a large group and we had a room all to ourselves. The food was average for hosting such a large party, about 45 people. The enviroment was great and the service was decent considering everybody was wanting something from them at all times. Overall, I would only recommend this place for a group dinner, otherwise stick to your local favorite Italian restaurant. Pros: Ambience, Bar Area, Location Cons: Average Food, Average Service more

It gives Italian food a very BAD taste!! 4/30/2007

I registered after years of using this service just so I can put my two-cents in on Buca, it is that bad. I can't believe this chain is so popular. It's just SAD. I guess so is McDonald's - food quality is not a requirement for being popular. I took my first Italy trip a couple of months ago, the food there was wonderful, simply and freshly done. It's hard to get a bad meal in Italy, in contrast, it's hard to get a good meal in Buca. The food was horrible but hey you got lots of it! Pros: When you don't have to eat there. Cons: Cheap quality food prepared badly - overly oily and heavy with no freshness and skills more
