I wanted to take my husband for BBQ on our date night, and it was my turn to choose the restaurant. I came to my faithful citysearch to see what had the best reviews and most ratings. Extra Billys seemed to be consistently good, so I figured we would try it. Driving up to it, my husband and I seemed VERY skeptical because its a small building, nothing impressive. We were seated, and let me tell you- we had the best waitress in the world (Janet). After we ordered, and gave us a tour of the restaurant, told us the history, and explains all the major events in town that they cater. We did not order pulled pork, and she swore it was great, so she asked the chef if we could sample some. Next thing we knew she brought out a small cup of pork for us! (for free nonetheless). My husband loved his ribs- meat fell right off the bone. He also ordered hush puppies. I dont know if the waitress did this on purpose but there was supposed to be 8, and she gave us nine. The warm bread was simple- just like dinner rolls, but whatever they did to them was great. Didn't care for the caesar dressing, but you don't go to BBQ to eat salad. Apple cobbler for dessert- best apple cobbler I had in my life, and I eat a LOT of dessert. CHEAP meal!!! We ate 4 courses each, and my husband had a Corona (only $3) and the bill was only $47! Balances out the $300 we spent at Mortons last week! I have been hearing Extra Billys is the best bbq in Richmond. Although I havent had any other richmond bbq, this was great. They even changed the TV channel to what we wanted to watch. Everything was spectacular, and I'm a picky broad!! You'l enjoy it! MAke sure and ask for Janet!
Pros: service, bbq, bread, apple cobbler
Cons: not intimate atmosphere. but what do you expect- its bbq!
