They've moved. The new address is 3222 M St, in "The Shops at Georgetown". They're open M-Sat 11a-7p. I haven't been there recently; wanted to stop by and found out they'd moved....

I was looking for some custom vintage glass buttons for my 1960's vintage top, and after 15 minutes, I had to ask for help, even though the sales people were there chatting amongs...

They've moved. The new address is 3222 M St, in "The Shops at Georgetown". They're open M-Sat 11a-7p. I haven't been there recently; wanted to stop by and found out they'd moved. Went there a few years ago and liked the selection. A range of prices, some expensive things and others reasonable. At the time I lived in DC, and was also simply thrilled that there was a fabric store in the area. more

Great notions, bad customer service 11/17/2006

I was looking for some custom vintage glass buttons for my 1960's vintage top, and after 15 minutes, I had to ask for help, even though the sales people were there chatting amongst themselves. (yes there were 2 people watching me like a hawk but didn't even bother to ask if I needed help!) They have some great buttons and the fabrics are "exquisite" but the service was very poor. I noticed this with customers who didn't fit a certain "designer" profile. That day I was wearing my business suit with sling back heels and designer handbag, so I don't know why they turned their nose up at me. Unless you are among the rich and famous, or fit a certain profile, don't expect good service. I will never go there again. more

Where "Fabrics if the Focus" 10/6/2005

I don't shop for fabrics often, but I saw this place on my way to work. Here you can buy pure silks, ribbons, threads, pattersn, luxury fibers, wools, linens, buttons, and such. It seemed like all you would need to sew, except for the sewing machine. :) I didn't fall in love with any of the fabrics there, but there were some neat ones. The store has a wide selection of textured fabrics. I went at 1 PM on a weekday and the sales guy was fast and choppy 'cause he had to attend a handful of costumers... so I'm not sure whether he's helpful or nice. more
