Wonderful place extremly nice and knowledgable staff its not the biggest place but they have a nice selection for the size of the store. I suggest going there if your in the market for fish or lizards. more

Gross store. Super disappointed. Staff were rude and the stock was awful. Would not ever go here again. more

My big tip is not to shop here. You'll only get diseased or dying fish, and anything they try to sell you that isn't alive won't be what you actually need. They're just out to make money. Don't trust them, and certainly don't buy their fish. This place is disgusting. more

I have known the owner of Exotics for a long time.I no longer live in Boulder but when I did I frequented the store.It may not be the most orderly or neatest store in the world but I would challenge anyone to find a more knowledgable person when it concerns fish and reptiles.If you want to set up a fish tank,salt or fresh water,this is the store for you.Also advice for care of snakes,lizards,TORTOISE,ect more

My family and I have kept aquariums for years and we always shop here. The store space is smaller, so things tend to get cramped inside, which can be turn off for many shoppers. The owner of the shop is very knowledgeable and has always been extremely helpful when we have a problem with our tanks or want advice on selecting fish. Even though the shop interior is grungy and packed, the animals are well taken care of and all the fish we've purchased here have had long lives. While this might not be everyone's store, it's definitely worth checking out. more

This place has a good group of guys. The owners have helped me many times and allowed me to return fish from my 150G cichlid tank as they breed in exchange for diversity of fish. There is a great variety of fish here and you'll get good advice on how to setup a tank. The review from 'Kenobeast' that said this place was only 1 star was what prompted me to respond. I'm guessing he owns a competing shop or something because I've never seen a problem like he's talking about. Maybe he was visiting the aqua section at Pet Smart and confused himself... more

I have worked in the aquarium industry going on 20 years, and have never seen anything like this place,...at least 4 dead fish per tank, fish with ick being housed with healthy specimens, a dead longhorn cowfish (poisonous to tankmates) rolling around on the bottom of a holding tank....called the store after we left (without buying a thing!) and the clerk told me that up to a 20% loss on shipment day is acceptable to them,....no quarantine area,...no ""Blue copper water"" treatments anywhere to be seen.....specimens acclimated to temp only, then dumped into show tanks for sale....pinched and retreating coral heads,.....skip this place,....I would have given it negative stars if I could.....unknowledgeable, horrible fish keeping practices,....felt horrible for all the critters losing their lives in that dump.....STAY AWAY if you care about fish! more

It's the type of fish store you remember before the big-box pet stores came on the scene they know their stuff. Pros: Large tanks, many species, healthy fish, knowledgable staff Cons: It's in Boulder, I don't care for the traffic more
