I had my consultation back on February 16th and reviewed my options for lasik surgery. I've worn glasses for nearly 10 years and I have a really hard time reading text up close.
After getting an eye exam from one of his staff members, Dr. Moosa met with me and told me about the procedure. That it would take about 30 minutes and that I would feel no pain, but that I should plan on having someone come with me and plan on taking work off the day after the procedure.
I scheduled the appointment for last Friday (so I wouldn't have to miss a day of work on Saturday). I came into the office a little nervous. I mean, what would happen if something went wrong, would I possibly go blind? My heart was racing a bit when the staffer came in to the waiting room to get me.
When Dr. Moosa arrived in the procedure room he and I had some small talk about the Lakers (he's an avid fan and so am I), which actually helped to take my mind off of the procedure.
After I was laid down on the ""operating table"", if you can call it that, the laser was moved in to place above me. I was awake and lucid the whole time, and aside from some eye drops that I was given, I didn't even feel anything.
Next comes the most amazing part. After laying there for another 5 minutes, Dr. Moosa asked me to sit up and as soon as I did, I could see his face clearly. Not just clearly, but perfectly clear. It kind of felt like I was dreaming, because I hadn't been able to see this clearly since I was in college. I felt like a whole new human being!
