Was in Saugatuck in the middle of the 3rd week of May, before most places had opened. Fortunately, I got to this place in time for dinner (they close early - 9 pm). The atmosphere isn't much, but some of the food sampled was terrific and based on good, fresh ingredients. That can't be said however of the mussels appetizer. The mussels seemed old. They lacked flavor and were tough. The dish wasn't even finished. The Italian Wedding soup was OK, but nothing special. Same too for the salad. The chicken and gnochi entree with fresh(!) tomatoes and mozerella was good, but why was it in a broth instead of a sauce? That was a little weird. The duck breast in a 5 spice powder was the star of the evening. The duck was a very good piece of meat, very well done (I expect it was brined), and with excellent flavoring. That, along with a delicious chianti classico, left a positive lingering memory.
Pros: Fresh ingredients, some dishes excellently prepared
Cons: Some dishes, with potential, missed their mark
