Wouldn't recommend.. 6/12/2013

Price: Poor It seems cheap until you start to realize all the little “fees” that accompany living here.. Spending close to $1200 for a two bedroom where you pay a $500 deposit, where $250 of that is non-refundable. If you have pets you are required to throw down another $500 deposit and $250 of that is non-refundable. Pretty lame… I’ve lived in apartments across the country and have never had to pay a non-refundable fee just to move in – instead they would examine the condition of the apartment at the end of the lease and give you a refund based on merit and condition left. Here you are automatically dinged $500 just to move in and live in the place.. Competing complexes located in the same area are far more competitive in pricing and have far more reasonable deposits accompanied with rent. The rent seems cheap until you realize that utilities aren’t included in the rent. The trash removal fee is about $14 dollars, the combination of gas/electric/water/sewer/trash comes out to be $100-$200 monthly – not much you can do there. But what is annoying is that your Water/Sewer/Trash is billed through a third party company separate from Evergreen Heights where you have to write a check and mail it to them if you want to escape the $7.50 “convenience fee” that is associated with paying directly online.. Apartment Condition: Poor The condition of the apartment once we moved in was substandard. The apartment had bent and broken blinds, what little cabinets and shelves were there are in poor and deteriorating shape – often having bent up corners, doors coming off the hinges and the bottom of the cabinets look like they are about to fall from their shelving. We found an electrical socket that didn’t work from the start (and no, it’s not the socket that is connected to the light switch.) And the door knob to our backdoor decided to randomly fall off.. This is a really bad complex... 6/8/2013

These are by far the worst apartments I have ever lived in. I have lived in apartments all over the country and have never been treated so poorly than here. I moved here from Indianapolis and firstly the non-refundable $500 deposit is completely ridiculous. I have never lived in an apartment where the deposit hasn't been at least partially refundable. Secondly, the reviews about the walls and hearing people through them are all completely true. I have heard people having sex and even going to the bathroom and I'm not just talking about the flush, I've heard the whole process.. it's pretty disgusting and absolutely unnecessary. You can actually sing to the lyrics of a song you know when someone is playing music - it's that bad... Thirdly, you actually have to pay a $200 deposit to use the GRILL! When I confronted "Sylvia" about the subject, she claimed that this was the rule and that it was completely reasonable - what made me more angry was that she claimed that she never had met me and she was the one who actually moved us into our apartment (and was our correspondence from moving from Indianapolis to Seattle!) and walked us through the apartment complex! Fourth, when we moved in, we were moved into a handicap-capable residence that had wider doors and hallways - which isn't really a problem, but the problem was that they never communicated these details to us before our move! We moved over 2000 miles to these pieces of ---- apartments and then we find out that our apartment is different from what was advertised and communicated to us originally. Even worse, is that our apartment doesn't even have a microwave! I have never moved into a place that didn't supply a simple microwave and this complex obviously is nickle and diming it's residence. Rent too high 8/5/2009

This is a decent complex. The management is actually quite good IMO. They fix problems immediately, are very nice, and have made a lot of efforts to improve, such as implementing a 24/7 help hotline. The complex itself is pretty nice, very quiet. Parking is dreadfully limited, you only get one spot and additional spots are extremely hard to find. My only real complaint is the rent is just way too high. I am paying way more than I should. To their credit my rent will go down $60/month for the next year, which is good. more

Rent too high, poor management 4/8/2008

I lived here for a number of years, and the management keeps changing With every change things just keep getting worse. It's hard to get them to fix problems for you and then when they eventually do, it's as cheaply as possible so it doesn't last. The rent is too high even for the area. They don't advertise that the rent doesn't include water sewer and garbage which makes it higher than it looks. And yes, parking is horrible. It took only one day to find a better place only a couple blocks away. more

I Really Like it Here 1/16/2007

Pros: I had a complaint about some kids upstairs, and after trying to let them know of the noise level, it started up again. I notified the office girls and that next day they recieved a notice that they needed to be quiet. They informed me to let them know if I have any further problems. If I have any question about anything they are really friendly and not uptight like some places. The Evergreen Hospital is across the street, so I thought it might be noisy with sirens before I moved in, but I rarely hear them. I had a problem with a leak under my kitchen sink and their mantenance guy Kevin was so nice and got it fixed within 24 hours, and didn't have to call him back, he did it right the first time. He explains things without making you feel stupid, then asks if there is anything else that needs fixing while he is there. Very Cool! I have never had problems with teenagers or people hanging around, no drunks or druggies around, noise level is actually really good and I've never felt unsafe here. They do criminal checks on people before they move in, so that might help. You see a few kids when the weather is good but not too often or bothersome. When this place had the power outtages due to the bad storm we had, they had power in one building and used a vacant apartment to set up a make-shift soup kitchen to give out free coffee, food and some heat all week long for everyone. The maintenance guy wanted to help people and got the rest of the staff involved, big thanks to Kevin! Cons: There is only one designated parking space for each apartment, they do have some open spaces but could use more. I did have someone park in my parking space, BUT.. I complained to management and after not being able to find that person, they called the tow truck and within 30 minutes, they were outta there! Some neighbors are idiots, not actually putting their trash bags IN the dumpster blocking the way sometimes. The rent has gone up a little, many complained, but other apartments in the area ARE charging the same, either in rent or deposits so guess it's just inflation, and the way I'm treated here, I don't mind the small increase. These apartments are comfortable and not rickety, and the staff actually cares. more

Ever-changing Rents 8/9/2006

The area is nice, near I-5, and Evergreen Hospital, but the rent is out of control! I have been here for two years, and every year, the rent jumps significantly! Currently, a two-bedroom is $1,050, and my rent is about to go up again! That is not even including water, sewer, and garbage, which just went up another $10 to over $60/month. It is really frustrating when I get up for work at 6;30, and the water that is supposed to go on my brown lawn is pouring down the middle of the driveway, on its way to the sewer, because no one listens when I tell them the sprinklers are out of adjustment. There are also a lot of break-ins lately, two in the last three months. And the parking situation is bad. There is only one parking spot for each apartment, and one visitor spot for each 8 to 14 unit building. The neighbors are nice, and it is quiet at night. These are the reasons I have yet to move, but after this rent increase, I will not stay any longer. The average two-bedroom in the area is two to three HUNDRED dollars less than what they are asking. more
