Awesome! 3/26/2009

If you love meat, this is the place for you. All of the meat, chicken, pork, lamb, and shrimp selections were tender, juicy, and had the right amount of seasoning (the shrimp especially). The salad bar had a nice selection of veggies and beans and includes salmon. They also have a long list of desserts (didn't really care for the the Tres Leches cake though). As previously mentioned, our bill was astronomical as well. It's $49.50 per person for dinner. Thank god they didn't charge for my 6 year old. Pros: Excellent service, great selection of meats & poultry. Cons: Double P's-Price&Parking more

Reminded me of being in Rio! Great atmosphere, and customer service 7/6/2008

The food tasted great, it was seasoned great, and the service was fantastic. The first time I ever had gone to a Churrascaria was 15 years ago in Rio -- the food and experience was awesome! Espetus brought me back there. I strongly recommend taking family and friends. Pros: Service, and food quality, and taste Cons: Can't think of one at this time more

Exelent food whit great smiles 6/4/2008

As a Brazilian, I have being to several "Churrascarias" before. In Brazil and in few cities of America. What I want when I come to a "rodizio" it`s a good variety of tropical Brazilian salads and some of it`s unique culinary dishes and all the tender and juicy at it`s flavor meat, good meat. How about a friendly, welcome whit a great smile in an ambiance of happiness. After a long day at work or a long weak, I, for sure, can find that at Espetus. Delicious food that worth every penny. Pros: delicious food Cons: parking more

Excellent food, but a little pricey. 5/21/2008

I love "churrasco"! This is the place in San Francisco to try the real " churrascaria rodizio", the way it's called in Brazil. The service is very good, but I think it's a little expensive if you take your whole family. My bill was astronomic... Pros: Food & Service Cons: Price! more

GOOD FOOD, BUT $159 FOR WATER??!!! 12/7/2007

Just came back from a holiday lunch with 35 coworkers at Espetus. I collected $31 including tax and tip from everyone. The staff had told me over the phone that drinks were extra ($4-$6 is what they said) so I figured we would just have water. They asked if we'd like sparking or still water so we asked for still water. HUGE mistake. Because I neglected to say JUST PLAIN TAP WATER, the bill arrived with a charge of $159.39 for bottled WATER. I suppose I should have asked how much for water, but I had no idea it would be almost $5 each for WATER!! C'mon people!! You're charging $23.95 for a lunch buffet (Double that for dinner)! Could you at least include the WATER or warn me that you charge $7 a bottle!!!??? Pros: Good Food Cons: Too Expensive more

MEAT BUFFET IN YO FACE!!! 12/5/2007

I am a carnivore of a man, so even though the service can be a bit rude i would go back. The servers walk around with their nose's in the air. Luckily the server that got us our drink was over the top nice it evened everything out. more

company party 11/26/2007

the managers took all admins to Espetus last year. very tasty. too much meat for someone like me who doesn't eat a lot of it. the parmesan chicken was off the hook. all the salads and sides at the buffet bar were really good. i don't know that i would pay to eat there on my own. it was much more appreciated because the bosses paid for it. more

Expensive but amusing 10/12/2007

Really this is a situation of a great concept with spotty execution. It is pretty expensive just for the meat. While it's all you can eat, you'd need to really eat a LOT of meat for it to balance out.\r \r Since there are so many different types and cuts some of the quality suffers. The flank steak was excellent, but the other stuff was just ok.\r \r Wine list is pretty clearly price-driven.\r \r The swords are cool. more

Lots of meat, hostile service & ridiculous prices 10/11/2007

I guess if you have a fat wallet and want to impress someone (and you eat loads of meat), this might be a good place to go. Personally, I was insulted by the $20 table water fee and the $20 per bottle corkage. It's not like it's a cheap feed in the first place. To top it off, the staff gave us a lot of attitude. more

Don't be Late 8/26/2007

We called to say that we were running late for our 7:00 p.m reservation on a Friday, August 10th as BART was running behind. We were told no problem. We arrived at 7:10 p.m., and we waited 25 minutes. I asked why were we waiting so long to be seated. The hostess said that we were 20 minutes late and they had given our table away. I said we most certainly were not 20 minutes late, that we had arrived at 7:10 p.m; in addition, we had called and were told it was no problem. Clearly my face must have spoken the anger I was starting to feel at the treatment because the manager came over and apologized but the damage was done. He bought drinks for my party of 3 and we were seated a few minutes later. As we had never been there before, we were uncertain how it worked. We asked a waiter what the process was and he explained it to us. Seems like that is something the air head hostesses could have done while we waited to be seated. We went to the salad bar and it was so so not much that really grabbed me. The meats and seafood were good but it certainly was not that much different than a normal buffet. The prices that I had seen on Open Table's website were clearly from a long ago time and our bill was 150.00 including tax. Way too over priced and pompous for my taste but my guests from DC enjoyed it and it was for them that I went. I personally will never return. The Bay Area is blessed with too many good restaurants to deal with one that gives a bad first impression! Pros: Lots of meat if that's your thing, close to BART-civic center Cons: pompous attitude from hostesses, OVER PRICED, no parking, noisy more

Don't Waste your Time or Your Well Earned Money 6/27/2007

This overpriced, over-hyped restaurant was a huge disappointment. Extremely expensive for what you get. Most chicken, lamb, sprimp dishes were overly dry and hard. Prices have definitely gone up since their first reviews. I was with a birthday party of eight, and after reading the reviews about the poor wine list and how extremely marked up the prices are, we brought our own wine. The waiter did not looked pleased when we produced two bottles to be opened. After we finished the two one more was brought out, only to be told that there is a two bottle limit for wine brought in. They then produced a wine list with the cheapest bottle starting at over $50 - Ridiculous! The bill for everyone( (without desert) came to $80 per person. Far too expensive for a couple of slices of decent beef and a side salad. Don't know why anyone would subject themselves to being monetarily taken by such mediocre food. Cons: Far Too expensive more

Overly Expensive and Overhyped 1/27/2007

I went on a Friday night after hearing so much about this place. I was frankly disappointed. There were maybe 2 or 3 meats that were pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Just slightly better than cheap buffet quality. I found that most of the meats were dry or just weren't very good, and I have to agree with previous posters that the salad bar was better than the meat, but nothing exciting either. It was definitely not worth the $50 per as I could've gotten much higher quality meat for less at a better restaurant. Will not go again. Oh did I mention it was way too crowded and the wait was ridiculous. Pros: buffet Cons: so so meat, too expensive, too crowded more

Good if you're on a low-carb diet... 11/24/2006

A friend brought me here for my birthday. We enjoyed the food and spent a couple of hours eating and had no complaints. The tenderloin was fantastic. It was a bit expensive so make sure you go hungry and eat a lot to make it worthwhile. more

Avoid Sundays! 11/3/2006

I was pleased when I first visited Espetus back in 2003. The food was great - LOADS of meat. They did conveniently "run out" of the fried bananas when we requested for more but the service was excellent though. For a party of 7 i think we paid a decent amount for what we ate - steak, pork, even the chicken hearts were absolutely yummy! :) Came back a few months ago on a Sunday for lunch thinking that the price would be less since it's lunch time. Turns out they changed their policy and the price for buffet lunch on Sundays is the same as dinner. We ended up paying a little over $100 for lunch, which was a bit disappointing. Had I known this earlier, I would've opted to go for dinner. Overall, if you're terribly hungry and want tons of meat and don't mind paying over $50 for lunch, then this is your place. Dinner is much better, however. more

Meat Lovers Welcome! 9/27/2006

I was overwhelmed with all the meats that came my way. They offered a tasty selection of different steaks, loins, and chickens. Everything was so fresh and tasted wonderful! They offer a small salad bar where you can get some starches and salads. The mango salasa tasted really good and complimented well with the steaks. The service was awesome and they were all very very attentive. Pros: Variety of meats, cleanliness Cons: Parking more
