I dined at Ernies Restaurant last week at dinner time. I was told this restaurant and Bar was a Dallas/ Addison icon for 30 years? When we walked in the bar to the left was filled with friendly middle aged patrons that all seem to be having a great time so we went into the bar first to have a cocktail before we had dinner. They were playing karaoke at 6pm and the singers were actually pretty good! The DJ was friendly, the waitress really nice and the drinks were half price because we were in happy hour. I have to say we had the best time people watching and interacting with what seemed like a ‘cheers’ environment right here in the Addison area! When we sat down for dinner the waitress brought us the best bread I have had in awhile. It was pretty funny because my boyfriend kept eating it all and she would smile and bring more….the dinner salad with the house dressing was out of this world, the salad itself had stringed carrots and tomatoes and crisp greens, it was soo good ( crazy to go n about a salad, but it really was so good!) for dinner I ordered what the waitress said was one of the most popular dishes. It was a breast of chicken. That was grilled and placed on a bed of angel hair pasta with the most amazing sauce. It had sautéed mushrooms and grilled shrimp topped and fresh vegetables as well. I had to skip dessert because of all of the great bread but they sounded delicious as well. You really have to go to this hidden gem. It’s a little hard to find in the Addison shopping Center next to the tollway and beltline, but worth it. Hands down one of the best dinners I have had in awhile. I would give it tem stars if I could ( insider tip , the owner owns a shrimp farm, so if you are looking for the freshest shrimp in the Metroplex, go here)
Pros: Great food and fantastic fun
Cons: a little hard to find, so keep looking ( back by dream cafe)
