There are repair shops within.. 11/13/2009

There are repair shops within walking distance of my home. In years past, I've used several of them to varying degrees of dissatisfaction. For over 3 years, I've been going to Eric Krebs Automotive. And although the drive is 13 miles out of my way, it doesn't bother me in the least, because Eric and his crew have earned my trust. more

Eric Krebs Automotive is not where I'd take my car 9/11/2009

Go here if you feel like getting ripped off and not having your car really fixed! They charge you $60 for the initial inspection and don't do anything. So you spend $60 for less than an hour of work and a piece of paper telling you "what's wrong". They quoted $2300 for all the "work" that needed to be done (Radiator, hoses, transmission Line leaking on lower radiator hose and brakes). Had I paid them the $2300 they wouldn't have even fixed the underlying problem, a 100 dollar thermostat! I went here because the reviews were decent. However, if you notice, some of the high rating reviews here are copy and pasted to other sites, fishy if you ask me! Also from what I've read they seem to like telling people their transmissions have issues. I Got everything fixed and out the door for $800 at an honest mechanic's. I would not recommend Eric Kreb. more

Superior customer service and quality 8/18/2009

Went to Eric Krebs Automotive last week for a smog inspection. While doing the smog, apparently they do a check up of my fluids and other stuff. They brought in a card that showed me my fluid conditions and also told me about some things i never knew before. I went back the following day to have the service work done and they were extremely helpful and when i picked up my car it had been washed. I had a great experience. more

Ridiculous charge 8/17/2009

Car would turn over but wouldn't start. Didn't have time to figure it out myself so took it in. Turns out, there is an inertia switch near the air intake (which I had to take off to replace the headlamp) that needed to be reset. They reset it but couldn't repair the broken bracket. They also serviced the transmission. They charged me 170 for the transmission service and 150 to tell me the switch was bad! Most places have a $80 to $100 charge for estimate. Being as I gave them the transmission work and want to have my other car transmission serviced, I asked if they could do something more reasonable on the 150. The owner seemed agreeable but Chris at the front desk, who apparently has this authority, said NO. I'm done with this place. Loved It 8/12/2009

I went there last week for the first time based on these reviews and am happy to say it went great. They were very nice and gave me a free rental car while mine was being worked on and washed and vacuumed my car for free. This is now my new one stop shop for my car. I would recommend all! more

In regard to Joe Marsos' post, i would just like to say that his vehicle failed the smog here 3 times after taking it to another facility for repairs. In all 3 of those attempts they never set the timing correctly and actually moved it out of specs in an attempt to lower emissions readings. He was not charged for the re-inspection after the adjustment of the timing procedure, which is a little more involved than he makes it sound. If it was that easy then he would have performed the procedure himself or the other repair facility would have done it correctly for him. I apologize for his bad experience our labor times are based on a nationwide computer software for the auto repair industry. Thank you to everyone else for all the nice things that have been said! more

Got charged $687.72 per hour! 6/2/2009

I was charged $57.31 to have my timing adjusted. For those of you who don't know, it's as simple as loosening one bolt, turning the distributor about a 1/4 inch and then retightening the bolt. Lets say it took him 5 minutes to do the aforementioned. That's a rate of $687.72 per hour. For this reason I DO NOT recommend going to Eric Krebs Automotive. Pros: Chris was personable and helpful Cons: Charged WAY too much for a simple adjustment more

Had good experience (getting a smog test) 5/6/2009

I needed a smog test the other day and came here. Usually a smog test is either a simple Pass (and no complaints about the mechanic) or a Fail (and then you may or may not have problems getting it resolved). Mine was a simple Pass, so there were no problems. They didn't appear to be the cheapest place in town, but I used a 10% discount coupon from the phone book (total bill: $51.29). I called and had to wait 2-3 days before I could get an appointment, which is no big deal. The guy I dealt with was friendly, and they got me in and out of there quickly. The main reason I went with them and am writing this review is because my favorite (and trusted) SB area mechanic (Airport Motors) recommended them highly. The Best Around 5/5/2009

I have been going to Eric Krebs Auto for 3 years now after bad experiences everywhere else. The moment i was greeted i could tell i was working with a good shop. They have kept my car running in excellent shape and have always been extremely explanatory, as i do not know much about cars. They always make sure i under stand what is getting done before they do anything. The best auto repair facility i have ever been to in 45 years of driving. Thanks EKA!!! Excellent shop 10/24/2008

Every since the first time i went to Eric Krebs Auto i ahve been impressed. Their service and attitude is top notch. Have been going to for years and recommend anyone who cares for quality repairs. Good, honest mechanics are hard to find these days, these guys go up and beyond. Thanks all at Eric Krebs Auto! more
