great thai food 2/19/2010

The food is great. I've had the chicken satay, pad thai and paid seewai and it's all really amazing. I recommend this for everyone that truly enjoys thai food. Their thai iced tea as well as blue martini are really good as well. Pros: food and decor Cons: attendants could be a little more attentive more

Best thai food in Queens 6/18/2008

I went to Erawan for lunch today and was surprised at how good it was that it inspired me to write this review. There is a lunch menu that includes soup or salad and the prices are competitive. The food was amazing (try the green curry and flat noodles), the thai ice tea is probably the best i've ever had. We finished out meal off with the fried bananas and coconut ice cream, simply an amazing meal. \r \r Pros: Food, decor, and service Cons: None more

Good food, friendly service 3/27/2008

Went there with 3 colleagues last night for a laid-back business dinner and had a very nice time. Made reservations in advance even though it was a Wednesday night. I asked for ""good seating"" due to the fact we were meeting for business and they gave us a choice of places to sit. We chose the spot up front, which was our only mistake of the night because we were brushed against several times as people - service staff and customers, too - attempted to pass by. Everything we ordered was very good: beef and chicken satay, dumplings, Pad Thai, cubed beef, spicy shrimp and the other 4-5 times we selected for our appetizers and main courses. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Our guests, who were first-timers, were impressed and that made me as happy as the experience itself. Pros: Good food and service, plenty of dishes to choose from, value Cons: Seating was a little snug more

good food, nice place but need to work on service a little 8/14/2007

nice, classy, cozy place on Bell Blvd.\r i have to say i had a good experience with their food. i would go back to try other things on their menu.\r one thing though... they can work on their service a little bit.. it was kinda difficult to get a hold of a waiter/waitress more

Great Decor & Nice Friendly Restaurant 4/13/2007

There's 2 Erawans in the area, which are both run by the same ppl. I went to the larger one & I was surprised at how beautiful the decor was. We dined upstairs which seemed like it would be perfect for a good date. But then 2 large groups joined us & it got pretty loud. So if you were in a large group, this is the place to go because they can definitely accommodate your party. The food was decent , but not the best. The duck spring rolls were a little salty for my taste. I ordered the Duck entree w/ lychee & pineapples which was a different taste. It was good & I had plenty of leftovers. The creme brulee trio was cute & pretty good, which the Fried Ice Cream was too bready & had too much alcohol in it (I guess in order for the fire to fry to outside), although it did look really pretty. I hear the Lava Cake is to die for, so I will have to try that next time. Overall, it was a good dining experience. Pros: Great Decor, Decent Food more

intersting asian fusion 2/20/2007

they make a mean lychee martini! they have intersting fusion asian food. their steak there was great along with their thick lamb chops. i have to say this is a great place for white people who are afraid of eating chinese food other than chinese take out which isn't real chinese food. but the food there is pretty good, the service is ok, the waitress we had was a bit confused, but the desserts are amazing.... more

Great Thai Restaurant 1/15/2007

I eat at Erawan several times a month and friends from other parts of NYC and even from out of town often come to see me just to go to this restaurant. Their food is great. Plain and simple. Sometimes they are inflexible on substitutions, but thats the only negative I have. Seriously, try it for yourself. It won't set you back that much money and really, the food is great. I often get beef in a basil sauce with chinese broccoli and pad thai. But, their pineapple fried rice is great, their tofu is really good. Try this place! Pros: Great great food Cons: sometimes inflexible with menu substitutions more

Not impressed with service, and bland food 11/20/2006

Went there to try their Restaurant Week special. We had a chicken dish and a fish dish, and felt both dishes were poorly executed. The food was bland and the ingredients were mismatched. We also did not get a warm feeling from the service, perhaps due to the fact that we ordered the inexpensive specials and did not order drinks. Unfortunately, even if the regular menu is good, this experience does not endear me to return. Cons: Restaurant Week specials are bad more

Great Thai Food ! 9/18/2006

This place has some of the best Thai food~ It's a bit small and it gets crowded..but that's because the food is so awesome! LOVE IT~ I am also a big fan of their Erawan Steak and Seafood over on 39th Ave. Pros: Delicious, Ambiance, Location Cons: Crowded, Small more

excellent thai--so tie one on 8/20/2006

Good food and good value at this cozy Thai staple on Bell Blvd's restaurant row. All teh duck dishes were tender and tasty, and sticky multi-ingredient rice inside the pineapple was suberb. All the Thai standads hold up, and the specials are usually well done. A little loud and crowded on weekends, but still the best of the bunch in Bayside. Pros: good food, good value Cons: difficult parking more

Best Thai anywhere 8/19/2006

i really enjoyed eating at this Thai restaurant at least around queens, use to eat there 2 times a week when i use to work in bayside at OTC. The prices are bit steep but can't really complain the food is that good. more

GREAT FOOD but Pricey!! 6/5/2006

I've only been here once, and I thought the food was excellent!! I ordered the pineapple fried rice, crispy duck, and beef satay, and I thought they were the best thai dishes I've ever had. I would go here more often, but the prices are pretty steep, in my opinion. The service was excellent, and parking wasn't a problem. If you want to try to have a nice Thai dinner with money not being an object, I think this is a great place to do just that. Pros: Great Food, Good Parking Cons: Prices more

Not worth what they're charging 5/21/2006

I've had good Thai before and this is not it. The mussaman curry with shrimp was $18 and the green curry with pork was $12... each serving about the size of small soup bowls and there was nothing about the taste that made me feel like i was getting my money's worth. Most places give free rice with your meal, but at this place a bowl of jasmine rice cost $1 (their other rice options were $2 or more). When we asked for two bowls, they just gave it in one big bowl which barely came out to 1 1/2 orders. The only time the waitress paid any attention to us was when she took our order and at the end of our meal to ask if we wanted dessert (by then we had already packed up our leftovers and were waiting for change from our bill). We're not going back!!! Sripraphai in Woodside has MUCH better food, cheaper prices and better service. Cons: high prices, mediocre service more

uuummm...YUM!!!!!!! 2/13/2006

truly amazing..the food is unbelievable..as soon as i had the curry noodle or the big fried fish i was in heaven..the foods so tasty(the soup maybe a little blandbut ill forgive them only because everything else is out of this world.i had a lichi martini that was soo good and im not even a fan of the martini, then the special short rib app with a chili dipping sauce that was literally finger lickin good!I ordered wholefried fish with the head! and it was so crispy and tasy i wanted another fish! the jasmine sticky rice you get in the bamboo cup is so good and fun to eat..i could go onandon..honestly theprice is great for something diff and so much less that italian dining... i suggest the curry noodle that has the seafood and chicken in it.. or the fish or anything!..it is truly my fav restaurant in queens Pros: delicious food, cool atmoshpere, yummy drinks Cons: tight space, pricey drinks, bland soup more

What are people smoking 12/2/2005

it IS one of the best restaurants in queens and one of the best thai places in NYC. I have had much pad thai in my day, and I am VERY picky, and Erwans is definitely up there with the best. Their drinks are great using fresh fruit juices and the service has always been a pleasure. I would urge the 2 bad reviewers to give it another try otherwise I believe they are truly missing out. I have eaten there many times and it has been nothign but consistantly very good. I have many friends who have been eating there for years and would say the same. Do yourself a favor and give it a try despite the bad reviews because true you have your places that can go either way but I never though I would ever hear of someone saying they did not like erwan! Pros: food, decor, drinks Cons: small more

It's ok 11/19/2005

The food was definitely average. I would recommend Spice University Place. Service was horrible. We got there around 7 with reservations and didn't get seated till 30 minutes later. Pros: Decor Cons: Service more

Amazing food and service 10/8/2005

Some of the other reviewers could not have been to Erawan, because it is truly one of the best Thai restaurants in NYC (at least Zagat's feels that way!). Having eaten in Thai resturants all over (including Thailand) this rates as one of the best. Fresh pure ingredients, outstanding presentation and terrific service. The restaurant is beautiful, but is usually crowded, since the food is so good. They opened another one a few blocks away (Erawan Seafood and Steak) which is unbelievable! Even have websites (erawanthai.com and erawan-seafoodandsteak.com). Have never had a bad dinner at either one! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

a GEM compared to other options in the area 9/9/2005

As a native of Whitestone, and a resident of lower Manhattan for 5+ years, Erawan is a standby favorite of mine when I return to visit friends. Overall, the food is very good - notably the softshell crab w/mango sauce special is amazing! The only cuisines that will provide comparable quality in the vicinity are Greek (if you know where to look) and Pizza. While admitably, the seating is a bit cramped, and the menu a tad pricey, the staff does its best to remedy concerns. The owners and chefs are Thai and quite friendly. In fact, this venture has been so successful, a sister restaurant has been created in similar suit. To those who whine about clientele, you're IN Queens so seriously, get over the B&T complaints and appreciate this restaurant for what it is; a valiant and inspiring effort to bring authentic Thai fare to the neighborhood. Pros: Food, Decor Cons: Pricey more
