Peter, Sylvia and their staff have been the only people to work on my Ford F150, Toyota Tacoma and 74 VW Thing. Peter restored my VW from the graveyard and rebuilt the transmission and other parts with his hands, not a computer. They are informative, friendly and always available to discuss any matters and always have a spare treat for my dog. I feel that they appreciate my business and they work to keep it by providing the highest level of service every time. After all these years looking for a good mechanic in SB, I finally "know a guy" i can trust in town. more

The Engine Company has serviced all of our cars for 20 years as far as scheduled maintenance and repairs. They always performed as expected. If there was ever anything that didn't work properly after they worked on it, they fixed it without charging me. Plan on receiving a thorough understanding of the problem and trust the judgement on the work that must be done. There is work that could be done, should be done, and must be done. When they say that work must be done, believe them. The modicum of their service is that they give you full awareness of what needs to be done. For people who don't like any surprises, I think that's their strong point. Peter does a great job of explaining what is going to need to be done in the future. more

I had a broken speedometer and I called late in the day to The Engine Company and they were willing to take me. My car is 20 years old, so while I was there they did an assessment of my car and they helped me figure out what could be put off and what was a pressing fix. Paul was so willing to explain the assessment in detail. The cable was shipped into the shop the next morning so he fixed my speedometer and front end alignment and a few minor servicing jobs. He did work that was well-needed and I was very impressed. Paul works with his wife and she put all my receipts in my glove box into a binder, dating all the way back to 20 years ago, so we could look at the work done on my car. They went so above and beyond to take care of my car and look at long-term servicing goals. more
