Encore For Women

Great Tory Burch finds! I have found so many current, gently used Tory Burch items that are priced so much lower than retail! Great staff; they are helpful, courteous, know me by name, point out things that I might like or that are newly received. I love that they rotate the clothing seasonally just like the big name, big price department stores. My favorite resale shop of all time. Easy to consign; take your items early in the season. Take gently used, current, name brand (sometimes not name brand, but still gently used) items during suggested consignment days/hours. more

Encore is my favorite place to shop. Beautiful clothes in excellent condition, some new with tags still attached, from high end designers like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, a great selection of handbags and shoes, and new items on the floor daily. The staff have work there for years and always greets me with a smile. Several times they held items for a day while I made up my mind. The prices are lower on designer clothing than you can find on ebay and having staff who will honestly tell you how a dress fits you is priceless. more

I wish it was possible to give this shop a zero-star rating, but I am forced to give it at least one star, which it most certainly does not deserve. On Thursday, 4/12/2012, my husband accompanied me to Encore where I hoped to leave some Foxcroft blouses for consignment. We waited for over 30 minutes while ""the lady who approves consignments was picking up lunch."" During the time we waited we were completely ignored. When this lady breezed through the front door she was told that there was a consignment awaiting her approval. She then proceeded to the ""back room."" After about 10-15 minutes she reappeared from the back of the store with my clothes and basically threw them haphazardly onto the counter, mumbling to the young woman behind the counter. After another 10 minutes the young woman behind the counter announced, ""we can't use your clothes."" I have never been treated so rudely and with such disrespect in all of my 61 years. This is the second and absolutely the last time I will ever darken Encore's door. We proceeded to another very nice consignment store where all but 3 of my items were gladly accepted and we were treated with courtesy and respect. We received a very polite explanation about why the 3 items were not accepted, which we appreciated and agreed with. more

I have shopped at Encore for over a year now and was in the shop yesterday. There were two young ladies tending the shop and when I walked in, no acknowledgment, no ""welcome to the store, let me know if I can help you"", nothing. As I gathered a few items for the dressing room, the youngest gal quickly took the items and hung them on a rack while I continued to look around. When I finally decided on my items, I took then to the counter to pay out, and once again, nothing, the older gal, actually seemed irritated. I have spent hundreds of dollars at Encore, recommended some of my closest friends, but my experiences have gotten uncomfortable and I don't deserve to be treated like that. I am a patron, paying for goods, and like to conduct my business in a friendly atmosphere...c'mon Encore, you can do better than that!!! Pros: decent selection Cons: staff more

The staff is what makes Encore special: they take the time to help you find exactly what works for you, with never any pressure to buy. They carry high end designer clothing in current styles at good prices. My daughter flies in from Portland, OR to shop there and loves the shoes and jeans. I went there last week. I asked 2 different staff members about consigning and they talked to me like I was some worthless person who didn't have items that were good enough for their store. Their loss. There were some really cute clothes at good prices. The shoes were really overpriced for used shoes. Used Louboutin flats for $250? With the economy the way it is, department stores are selling these shoes NEW for that price. The bag sections are a whole different story. They sell the low end stuff and fake bags on a bookshelf, and the good stuff is put behind a glass case. They were KNOWINGLY selling fake bags. They weren't trying to dupe anyone, the bags were not in the glass case, had low price tags and when I asked the sales associate, she told me that they were fake, but this is TOTALLY ILLEGAL and immoral! Many people don't know this, but shop owners certainly do. It is illegal to have a venue that sells fake designer goods whether it is new or used. I have been shopping at encore for at least 8 years now. I have seen the clothing brands get so much better over the years, and the store is just exceptional. On my last visit, I walked out with 4 juicy track suits, a LV tote, 5 unbelievable pairs of shoes, and some great bits of jewelry. In fact, I couldn't stop thinking about a bag I wanted but did not buy, so I called the store when I got back to Houston and made arrangements to have it shipped to me. Great service! No, the prices are not garage sale prices, but neither are the clothes. Every high-end purse I own has been purchased at Encore. This store is so worth your time, but not if you are looking for cheap clothes at cheaper prices. Which is why I love this store, and make a point to stop in everytime I travel to San Antonio. My only suggestion - have a website where one might be able to purchase bags and jewelry online. more

This is my first time to write a review on any subject. My mother and I have shopped and consigned at Encore on NW Military for many years. The quality of the merchandise speaks for itself (I am always complimented on my wardrobe and wear a larger size) and the frendliness of the staff is outstanding. Today while I was shopping I particularly heard every person who walked through the door greeted and thanked by the staff. They always make me feel like a friend as well as a customer. I frequently travel and have compared Encore with other upscale resale shops in Texas as well as several other states: I think that we are fortunate in San Antonio to have this business and I would be among the hundreds of its satisfied shoppers to mourn its loss should it ever close. I have tried shopping this store many times. I keep thinking the staff will act as if they give a flip, but so far, it hasn't happened. I have gone in many times and seen the same people. There is absolutely no recognition factor going on with them. I've owned my own business. It doesn't matter how good the buys are (and I don't really think they're THAT good). Without staff that acknowledges customers, attempts to help and lets customers know their business is appreciated (even if they don't buy a thing), not many women will give a business the many chances I have. And now I'm done. There are several other helpful resale shops along NW Military Hwy, and I encourage women to look those businesses up and patronize them. Love it, love it. I shop here regularly and have for years. I am a fairly discriminating buyer and frequent most of the resale shops in San Antonio. This is by far the best. The pricing is not ""bargain basement "" but if you're looking for quality and name brands, this is the place......so goes the adage, ""you get what you pay for."" My personal experience with the staff has been exceptional .... they are knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. I have referred countless people who feel as I do. Cons: Short Saturday hours more

Wow, what a lot of bad reviews. Since there is never an excuse for bad customer service EVER, I had to see for myself. Maybe they got the hint and changed the staff attitude! The girl behind the counter was attentive at the appropriate time. She did not ignore me nor did she lunge at me the moment I entered the store.Personally I don't like to be accosted by staff when I enter a store. I'm a professional fashion stylist and I found the merchandise to be of top quality, clean, well organized and the labels were great. In short I was impressed. I live in Dallas and this store is on par with our consignment stores. more

I made my one and only visit to the shop recently. There were no other customers but the two sales woman at the counter did not even look up to greet me. I shopped for about :10 minutes and walked out when I heard the comments they made when someone phoned and asked a question. I will NEVER shop there again. Cons: Terrible customer service. more

I looked throughout the entire store and no one offered to start a fitting room for me, much less acknowledged I was there. It was difficult to find nice stuff under $50 and everything was overpriced. I saw an item with the original price tag at $17, but their price was $23!!! I tried an item on for $48, but it had a stain on it. I mentioned it the sales lady and she took it from me very rudely and said ""I'll put it up."" I thought we could negotiate a price. I left immediately. I will not ever shop there again and neither will anyone I know! more

My husband and I walked in. We wandered for over 15 minutes. There were two workers. Neither lifted their head to say hello or acknowledge we existed. Pros: Cute stuff, found lots of designer names. Cons: Snotsville - no customer service. more

I have shopped here for years. I love that it is organized, clean, and has great labels at good prices. I would agree that the staff is not very friendly and almost never greet or acknowledge you while shopping. But, the finds make up for this issue. I mean, the staff is not downright rude, but needs to improve their customer service. more

Have the patience to look through many packed racks and shelves for designer finds from Diane von Furstenberg, Nanette Lepore, even Jimmy Choo to Banana Reublic and Target (i.e., Isaac Mizrahi for Target) and a few knockoffs in between? Yahtzee(!) this is the place for you. Be darn sure it's a keeper, as there are absolutely no returns. Inspect the garment carefully. The prices are excellent (Burberry pants for $30 !!).The service, however leaves much to be desired. I have yet to see anybody there who doesn't act like they are doing you a favor. The young girls are the worst!! Twice, the girls just sat at the counter and pointed in response to a question I had. To the staff's credit, I have always been greeted upon entering, and the visual displays are appealing, but in my opinion, these things alone are not enough to keep me coming back. more
