You won't get what you pay for 12/6/2014

What originally attracted me to Arlington Ridge when I moved to Akron was that they were new, in a nicer area relative to greater Akron, as well as being relatively spacious, one-story with attached garage, and a small yard. They were definitely more expensive than other apartments I had seen, but I figured it would be worth the extra money to go home to a place that I actually wanted to be. I have lived in Emerald Ridge for approximately six months now, so I feel like I can give a fair assessment of my experiences at this point. The aforementioned positive attributes still stand. Now for the cons: The management is the worst I have ever experienced. They don't return phone calls, tell you someone will be out to fix something and no one ever shows up (for days or weeks) and they do not make you feel like you are a priority at all. They provide "by the book" answers to complaints, and are completely unprofessional. But when the table is turned, they do not provide the same consideration. When my rent was 12 hours late, for the first time since living here, they charged a $95 fee. They called me the morning the rent was overdue, but will not return my calls for days or weeks (literally) when I call to request maintenance, etc. They definitely seem focused on the money, not the person. So not surprisingly, the appliances are useless and always breaking, no microwave, and the carpet is is cheaper than dirt. Looking back, I am second guessing my decision to move here because you don't get what you pay for at Arlington Ridge. I would expect this at an apartment that is $500 per month, but I am getting the same service at Arlington Ridge for $1316 per month. To sum things up, I had to move to Akron for two years for work, and I fully intend to move out of Arlington Ridge after my lease is up at 12 months and find a new apartment for my last year here. more

Beware 5/10/2013

The apts are large and spacious, with decent noise insulation. There are no ammenities (i.e. no pool, tennis, gym) which suits me fine, and the attached garage is wonderful to have. However, for the luxury price, I expect to be treated much better by management. It is clear that the tenants are simply nuisances that need to be minimally dealt with in order to keep the monthly revenue coming in - it's all about the money. Very cheap appliances that break constantly; no sense of responsibility or empathy by Redwood Management or property manager. And, beware that since they did not install a watering system, they attach hoses to individual units' outside faucets and those residents have to pay for the water to water the common grass areas! As per the other reviewer, charges at move out are astronomical and not in keeping with fair pricing for what is required. The management - all the way up the line - are disrespectful and unprofessional - they're charming at the time of sale, but then you just don't matter anymore. Customer service is a foreign concept. If you raise a concern or make a suggestion or ask for something within reason, they tag you as a 'problem' and look for ways to get you out since they make so much money on keeping deposits. In other words - keep your comments and complaints to yourself - they don't want the feedback. Redwood has a good concept here, which they are milking as they expand, but be forewarned that when you rent here, you're nothing more than a cha-ching for their money till. more

Beware 12/7/2011

Good: Pretty apartment. Dishwasher never worked entire time. Cupboards are so thin they bend just with touch of your hand. Carpet it so cheap, you will spend tons of time picking up carpet lint. Management - crooks!. Bad: Please beware before signing a lease with this company. You will never see your deposit again! We gave 30 days notice, but they still refused to refund us all monies due. Charged us for lock change fee, carpet cleaning fee, days they could not rent, & misc. charges. We always paid our rent on time, and this is what we got in return. Never again!. Improvements: New management!. Other: Please beware of this company. They also have aparments located in Medina, Wooster, & Findlay. They prey off of deposits thinking no one will complain. There are too many other places to rent that won't steal your hard-earned money. Rent some where else!. more
