What originally attracted me to Arlington Ridge when I moved to Akron was that they were new, in a nicer area relative to greater Akron, as well as being relatively spacious, one-story with attached garage, and a small yard. They were definitely more expensive than other apartments I had seen, but I figured it would be worth the extra money to go home to a place that I actually wanted to be. I have lived in Emerald Ridge for approximately six months now, so I feel like I can give a fair assessment of my experiences at this point. The aforementioned positive attributes still stand. Now for the cons: The management is the worst I have ever experienced. They don't return phone calls, tell you someone will be out to fix something and no one ever shows up (for days or weeks) and they do not make you feel like you are a priority at all. They provide "by the book" answers to complaints, and are completely unprofessional. But when the table is turned, they do not provide the same consideration. When my rent was 12 hours late, for the first time since living here, they charged a $95 fee. They called me the morning the rent was overdue, but will not return my calls for days or weeks (literally) when I call to request maintenance, etc. They definitely seem focused on the money, not the person. So not surprisingly, the appliances are useless and always breaking, no microwave, and the carpet is is cheaper than dirt. Looking back, I am second guessing my decision to move here because you don't get what you pay for at Arlington Ridge. I would expect this at an apartment that is $500 per month, but I am getting the same service at Arlington Ridge for $1316 per month. To sum things up, I had to move to Akron for two years for work, and I fully intend to move out of Arlington Ridge after my lease is up at 12 months and find a new apartment for my last year here.
