great neighborhood spot 9/28/2007

I've lived around the corner from this place for a few months but didn't notice ut until yesterday. Loving Thai food as I do, I decided to try it right away. It lived up to all the rave reviews in every respect. Although I do like Natalee Thai, this place really is a nice break. It was almost too quiet when we walked in, even though the place was about half full. All the dishes were great, although the portions were smaller than what I've come to expect. Of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing, and with most dishes between $7-10, you can try a few different things without spending too much. Pros: great neighborhood place, tasty dishes, excellent service Cons: small, no parking lot more

Outstanding Thai Food - Kick-back setting 4/17/2007

Emerald is one of my favorite Thai Food places in LA. I can't get enough of the Spicy Rice Noodle Soup. It's absolutely delicious. Also the pad thai and all the other dishes are fantastic. The aptmosphere is very personal and quiet. Ned is a great host, and always remembers what I like. Plus--ice cold beers for 3 bucks never hurts. Fantastic bargain quality family Thai food. Pros: Great food, Pitcher of water left on table, newspapers available to read more

Best Thai Food on the Westside... 4/3/2007

My wife & I have both been to Thailand, and this place ranks up there w/serving some of the most authentic Thai food in LA. Nathalee Thai, which is just down the street, is fine if you're in the mood for that Thai fusion sort of thing, but this restaurant serves up the real thing. Our favourite dishes there are Tom Ka Kai, Beef Yum, Pineapple Fried Rice w/curry, and Mango w/sticky rice for dessert. It's also relatively inexpensive , and has great Thai Iced Tea. Try it the next time you're in Culver City. more

Great little Thai place 11/15/2006

I've been here a few times, and really like their pad thai. Their soup wasn't the best. I also suggest their chicken panang. I've always walked here and parking seems difficult. Fairly inexpensive for lunch though. more

Support your Mom & Pop Shop 4/11/2006

This place is great - food is excellent and the service is quick, efficient and friendly. Natalee Thai is a chain...why not support something a bit more authentic and local? Pros: food, service more

Average Veggie Pad Thai 8/18/2005

After I had ordered green curry with eggplant and was told that the restaurant had ran out of eggplant, I reluctantly ordered vegetarian pad thai with egg. First of all, there were a lot of noodles, but both the noodles and the vegetables (Chinese peas, broccoli, and carrots) were overcooked and mushy. Perhaps the other dishes are good, but I'm not going back to find out. Pros: reasonably priced, good sized portions Cons: mushy pad thai more

Great little place 2/17/2005

Same as above reviewer, they remember you even if you don't come in for months. Their inside decor is a little brighter now but you really go for the food and the people that run it. The Chicken on fire is INCREDIBLE. I'm not even too sure if that is on the menu, but its awesome. Wor Won ton is excellent, frankly, everything is very good more

Great Service and good food! 9/7/2004

I was introduced to this restaurant by my girlfriend a few years ago and ever since the workers remember our order as soon as we walk in. Even if we don't go for months, they still remember our usuals. The staff is very friendly and are willing to customize the menu items to your tastes. I would highly recommend the Wonton soup with Tom Yum flavor. Pros: Service, Menu Variety, Never Crowded more

Don't tell anyone... 1/1/2004

But this place is a fantastic find, cold beer, great food, and great service! What's not to love? Pros: Cheap, Tasty, Fun more

Best Pad Thai 3/5/2003

Definitely skip Natalee Thai and head over to Emerald Restaurant. The Pad Thai noodles are the best I've ever tasted. It's a great neighborhood restaurant with a cozy feel. Pros: inexpensive more

Better Than Natalee 10/28/2002

Skip Natalee and come to Emrald Thai! Its less crowded, more relaxed, and less expensive to boot. The food is just as good, and you can have a conversation at your table. A great neighborhood spot. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Quality more

Excellent Thai food and good service 9/17/2002

Although not very famous, this restaurant has probably the best Pad Thai that I have ever eaten. The restaurant has pictures of celebrities who have eaten there on the walls, and the menu has some really nice choices. I recomment the Thai toast for starters, it is a bit greasy, but really tasty. Its a small restaurant, but they do have a take-out service. Pros: Excellent food, cheap, quiet neighborhood Cons: small capacity more
