Hendersonville Office- Pleasant Surprise 6/25/2010

I recently had several crowns done at the Hendersonville office. The dentist was very nice and stayed late to finish all of my work. He took his time and was careful to make sure I did not feel any pain. I have been to many dentists that rush to finish the work and I end up having to come back. Not this time. The dentist made sure that my crowns fit correctly before I left and even called to check on me that night to make sure everything was okay. They also do same day crowns which I really liked. I did not have to wear a temporary and left with all my work done on the same day. The prices were reasonable and I there was no ""upselling"" like I have experienced at other offices in Hendersonville. I went to this office as a referrel from a friend of mine, and I plan on making an appointment for my daughter soon. Don't let the other reviews scare you-they probably just wanted work done that they weren't willing to pay for. Pros: Pain-free experience, same day crowns, nice dentist more

Hendersonville Embassy Dental 6/10/2010

I had no idea the stress I was putting on myself for us to go to this dentist office. My husband had to get teeth removed, gum disease treatment, and dentures. \r Your can tell the dentist is new to the profession. He's very unsure of everything he does and depends on the assistant 100%/\r The gum disease treatment was barely covered by the insurance because apparently the antibiotic that they HAVE to use isn't covered AT ALL by the insurance, so that cost me over 500 hundred.\r The dentures took FOREVER to get because we had to keeo going back to get more impressions because the dentist wasnt getting good ones.\r Now that all that work was done about 5 months ago, and the insurance has paid everything their supposed to, I should expect my refund...right? NOT! I shouldve been worried when they made me pay up front for EVERYTHING, including what the insurance would pay. Now they have a different excuse everytime I call about why I can;t get my refund. First they said they undercharged the insurance and was kind of hinting that I was gonna have to pay the difference and I wouldn't get my refund (which should be over 1200 dollars, so thats a lot of money we're talking about), then they say the insurance didn't pay yet, etc., etc. So, I called the insurance and they said they WERE NOT undercharged and they had paid the dentist office a long time ago, so the insurance faxed them all the paperwork showing what they had paid and when they had paid it, and now I can't get a hold of the office manager...This is VERY frustrating, especially considering the fact that we are in GREAT need of that refund. I would not recommend the dentist office to anyone, unless I have a huge grudge against them. :-) Pros: .... Cons: young new dentist, not good work, cant get refund more

Embassy Dental Murfreesboro - Dishonest 4/11/2010

As a Comcast Aetna DMO family member, I thought I would try the local Embassy Dental off NW Broad St. in Murfreesboro. I wondered when I went in the door why I didn't see other patients besides one that came and left. Now I know why.\r \r After first doing some high tech x-rays, on screen video of my teeth and some other gadgetry I was hoping for a cleaning. When they told me that would need to be scheduled another day, I should have known something was wrong. Also, they told me the only type of filling that I could get there was the white cosmetic kind which would cost me money instead of the 100% coverage for a regular filling I was supposed to have with my Aetna DMO plan.\r \r After checking with Aetna several times about their coverage of the cosmetic filling, I was told several time by Aetna that they would be covering the extra cost since Embassy did not offer anything else. \r \r When I went to get my small filing in one molar and a cleaning I was asked to sign several forms telling Embassy that they could charge me for procedures if insurance did not pay. Do not sign these forms! Embassy ended up charging me quite a bit of money for the filling, for a pain shot that Aetna does not approve without telling me and for a flouride treatment that they did not inform me about and just told me to use which cost a bunch. (I am 33; I don't need flouride.) They then proceeded to bill me for all of this.\r \r Aetna says that Embassy has a list that they are required to use that shows what procedures Aetna approves. Let's see - I was supposed to pay $0 for my visit and I was charged for the filling, the pain shot, the flouride and some other item I can't remember right now.\r \r I caught Embassy directly lying to me several times and Aetna did the same. It was documented by me and turned in to the TN insurance commission as well as detailed by letter to Embassy. I will never go there again. Their M.O. is trickery and dishonesty to the core. Pros: Decent dental care Cons: If you to be lied to and pay for it; this is your dentist more

Great, if you want to be sold Snake Oil... 1/20/2009

The place is into selling you things that you probably don't need. I went in for a cleaning. I have never had a cavity, and my wisdom teeth are in perfect and straight. They thought otherwise. I couldn't get a basic cleaning, I had to get a super duper cleaning(for a nominal fee). I also needed an antibiotic injected into one tooth to protect it from bone loss. \r I had the Hygienist actually tell me they do profit sharing and have to cut corners to make their bonus. After making me wait an hour they at least came in with an enormous pre-bill to advise me what the cost would be. Anywho, I would not recommend it as I am sure you can tell... Pros: It's pretty to look at! Cons: Snake Oil salesman more

Skeptical 9/19/2008

The Embassy Dental business plan (and this is a coroporate enterprise) seems to be to maximize the number of visits required for any given level of service (don't expect to get an ""exam"" and a ""cleaning"" on the same day), to pursue aggressive and expensive courses of treatment, and to adhere to rigid, insurance code-driven protocols. Maybe they just err on the side of caution, or maybe they take you for as much money as you and your insurance company are willing to part with. I'm not sure, but I won't be going back. more

Worst company to deal with bar none!!!!!! 6/26/2008

This review is about the Hendersonville Embassy Dental Office\r I went to the office at 1 pm on April 22 for a root canal to be done under one of my crowns . I had been on antibiotics for 10 days due to infection under that crown.\r I had two crowns and only one needed a root canal. The Dr told me that I should have the two crowns replaced because it was only a matter of time before I would be experiencing the same problem with the other crown.\r I was also in the market for a partial denture and was told that if the other crown wasn't replaced that a partial would never fit right.\r I gave the desk my discount insurance card before anything was done to make sure that the discount would be honored before any work was done.\r I had a copy of the discounts for any dental procedure with me that they would have to perform.\r I was there over 3 hours most of which was handling the fact that they were trying to get out of giving me the discount prices that they were committed to honor.\r I should have walked out then as I was beginning to feel that they were not being honest with me.\r I live 80 miles from this office and was told that it was too late to do anything that day and I would have to come back the next day for the work to be done.\r It was too late to book a consultation with another Dentist that offered the discount program and being on a fixed income I was sorta at their mercy . I went back the next day and in three hours I had the root canal done and two temporary crowns put in.\r I asked them to please put a rush on the crowns if possible because my original partial didn't fit any longer and I would not be able to eat very well without my lower teeth.\r I was told that they would do this ,however the fitting for the partial was sent out of town and took 3 weeks to come back. It was again sent out to a lab to be completed and the Dr who was temporary there at the time insisted that I get it in a week.\r Needless to say it doesn't fit .\r Out $2500 Still cant eat more

Great experience. 2/18/2008

I see that there are a couple of bad reviews here...not sure why. I had a great first experience. No one tried to ""upsell"" me on anything. I have to go back for a cleaning and 2 small fillings...I would recommend. Pros: Parking, Location, Service Cons: New employees more

Bad experience 1/29/2008

I was told I needed a Full Mouth Debridement. I went back for it but was told I needed a Scaling and Root Planing for $500. They tried to sell me treatment with Arestin for an additional $1000, which thankfully I turned down. \r \r The next stage was that I was told I needed a crown put on an old filling (that was at that point not causing any pain). I went in for the temporary crown and spent the next couple of weeks in pain waiting for the permanent crown. When I went back for the permanent crown, placing it was very painful and I asked the dentist if this was normal. She assured me everything was OK.\r \r Fast forward to a couple of months later, when pain from that tooth was giving me a constant headache. I went back and the dentist who had placed the crown was no longer working there. A new dentist told me that I would need a root canal, and I should have had one in the first place. So I went for the root canal and had a hole drilled in my nice new $500 crown. \r \r Suffice to say I do not trust Embassy Dental anymore. I should have caught on much earlier... live and learn. Pros: Accepts many kinds of insurance, friendly front office staff Cons: Dropped a lot of money for questionable care more

Separating you from your money! 12/18/2007

I went in for the initial exam, and they took x-rays. No cavities, but was informed my teeth needed an ""extensive cleaning called a debriding"" -- that is exactly what they told me. they said it would not count as a cleaning covered by my insurance. It had been a while since my last cleaning (a long while), so I agreed to it. When I went in for the second appointment, they spent 10 minutes partially cleaning my teeth just enough to measure how much my gums had receded, then came up with a ""cleaning plan"" that came to almost $700.00, none of which was going to be covered by insurance. I have since gone to another dentist who said my teeth were in amazingly good shape, who cleaned my teeth in one sitting, and it was covered by insurance. I will NEVER go back to Embassy dental as I firmly believe they are in the business of selling you extensive services that you do not need. Nothing illegal going on, but their business practices are not ethical in my opion. Buyer beware! Cons: Over priced, unecessary services, fear mongering. more
