Great food and great prices for sure! 2/20/2012

Had lunch here a while back and meant to review it immediately. It's worth writing about. Glendale has no shortage of middle eastern eateries and I've tried a great many of them. Elena's is definitely in a league of it's own! For about $8 I got a huge plate of rice, trimmings and 2 skewers of chicken kebab and an Iced tea. The food was really very great and the price incredible! The wait staff is exceptionally friendly too. What's not to love about Elena's? I highly recommend it! more

The Best!!!! 3/10/2011

If your looking for delicious food and value this is the place for Armenian food, The portions are generous and arrive at your table hot and appetizing to the eye. My favorites the falafal plate and, the gyros. All dinners are served with a choice of lentel soup or salad, delicious humus, pita, french fries or the most delicious rice. I usually order food to go and it is always ready when I arrive. The people are warm and friendly and greet you with a smile. The place was remodled a few years and is welcoming. The best buy in Glendale!!! more

Great food , great prices 5/1/2009

Their chicken kebabs are one of the best I ever had. The portions are great for the prices. The garlic butter is simply amazing. Pros: Food, price Cons: noisy more

Awesome food, cheap prices 3/18/2009

For $11, you can get soup, full dinner. They do make the best hummus, and the service is friendly. If you are hungry for Armenian food and not looking for frills, this is it. Pros: Awesome hummus Cons: Very simple, homestyle restaurant more

Excellent service and hearty portions 8/23/2008

I tried out this restaurant for the very first time today and was pleasantly surprised. Besides the hearty portions, the staff was very warm and welcoming. I've lived in Glendale now for a few years and like to try out different foods. Have been to a lot of armenian bakeries and restaurants and have been ignored or dismissed. I have noticed the trend in glendale that a lot of armenian businesses are very rude and resentful towards non-armenian patrons. I did not feel this vibe at Elena's at all. My food cost $10.02 and the waitress was kind enough to only ask me for $10(whoa, i saved a whole 2cents!!!!). more

really good food - great prices 4/7/2008

This is a small restaurant that serves good food. I have been ordering from them for many years. The kababs are great, the rice is very delicous. The plate comes with lots of extras and it's well worth the price. I always order from them and they are great... Pros: Great Food and Prices Cons: Very small restaurant more

Editorial review from GrubHub 2/26/2008

Our delivery order consisted of #6 Combination Dinner-$9.99 and #18 Falafel Plate-$6.99 Both came with hummus, rice, roasted pepper & tomato and pickled veggies. Every bite was absolutely delicious! The portions were enough to feed 4, so we enjoyed them for lunches and leftovers the next day. For the quality and amount of food, the prices just can't be beat. Friendly staff when ordering and the delivery person was very courteous. They even threw in an entire package of extra large, warm pita bread! Oh, and the french fries and chocolate raspberry ice cream were wonderful too. (yeah, we had to have the fries!) Will be ordering again soon... probably later today. Highly recommend Elena's! more

Large servings, decent service 11/25/2007

Very down-home feel, like you were visiting some aunts and they were fixing you some lunch. Decent lunch crowd... prompt seating, but many of the tables were for larger groups and families (4-6 people), not as many tables for couples. Service was a little slow. Lovely pita bread and garlic butter to start off with, and pickled turnips I believe. We had the combo plate, and it had three types of meat, all really good. The roasted pepper was a little too spicy for me, and there wasn't anything else on the plate to really balance it out. The salad and lentil soups were both good, hard to eat it all with the entree in one sitting. If you don't feel embarrassed sharing just one entree with your eating companion (maybe add some baklava and upgrade to a greek salad), you get a perfectly nice lunch. Pros: Price, serving size Cons: Average service more

Best Kabobs and Pork Chops 4/12/2007

If your looking for great food and good portions at a great price this is the place to go. The meals come with lentil soup or salad, the soup is good but kinda bland, if you get the salad pay the buck extra to make it a greek, what a bargain. The chicken, lamb and shish kabob are delicious, nice and juicy and the seasoning is wonderful. The roasted tomato and pepper and fluffy rice round out the meal, you will need to take some home (the portions are big) The pork chops is another great value. The quail is ok (too small in my opinion). Atmosphere isn't why you come here. Service is better during the day, they seem to run out of gas by dinner time. Pros: Best Greek Armenian Food Cons: Street Parking more

best falafel on the planet! 8/15/2006

with an armenian spouse, and living in glendale, i have made the rounds of armenian and middle eastern eateries in glendale and pasadena and some on the west side and this is by far the best food at a great price. the falafel is out of this world and people that ""think"" they don't like falafel will love elena's. the combo plate is especially good for first timers because you get a range of tastes.the lamb chops are among the best and the rice is mouth watering. the ambience is primitive but you aren't eating that. this is where we take our friends and family for authentic armenian food with a greek flair. Pros: fantastic food at great prices! Cons: primitive ambience. more
