It's good food but nothing special and kinda pricey when you look at the surroundings and service. I would eat there again, but if there is a line, I would leave. more

Best hot dog since I've been here........ 12/17/2010

Im from Yuma, Az. I moved to Sierra Vista where there is no place for great Authentic Mexican food. Being from Yuma there is just about a Taco or Hot dog stand anywhere. This Resturant is a must stop if you are in the Tucson area. They even have authentic Mexican soda there. Great variety of food and extras. more

Worth a trip to Tucson 3/13/2008

I eat Mexican food all over North America. El Guero Canelo is the REAL DEAL. Abundant, hot, fresh and delicious. I ate the Burro (no little burrito in this place) and it was great. There is a salsa bar that has freshly cut up cucumbers, radishes, limes, and onion along with various salsas and pico de gallo. Excellent. Pros: Just great food for the price. Cons: If you want a beer, you won't get it here. more

Exceptional Sonoran Hot Dogs! 3/5/2008

I just returned back from my first visit to Tucson. El Guero Canelo was one of the places that I had researched to try - in attempts of experiencing some of the local food. As much as I tried not to hype up the visit to El Guero Canelo, I couldn't help it - especially since my girlfriend and I enjoy hot dogs much more than the average person. The Sonoran hot dogs were incredibly tasty. Every bite was simply divine and beyond enjoyable. The Mexican Coca-Cola was also a nice taste. Additionally I tried the bottled sangria (but didn't realize that it was non-alcoholic) and had a bite of a soft taco, which was also very tasty. This is a place that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get off the beaten path and enjoy something savory. If I find myself back in Tucson in the future, you better believe that I'll find myself back at El Guero Canelo! Pros: Taste of food and value of food for the money Cons: Parking lot was full more

A Tucson classic 4/2/2006

My friends and I used to take a drive down to south Tucson for this special treat once a week. It's a typical restaurant as it's pretty much a glorified taco stand with outdoor seating. On weekends, you should expect mostly Mexican families and workers having lunch and dinner. On a weekday, lunch crowd is eclectic with locals plus engineers from nearby IBM and Raytheon sites. My favorites are the caramlo and carne asada burritos. The coke in a bottle packaged in Mexico is also very refreashing cus it's made of real sugar! The Mexican hotdog is a speciality, but be careful you may need to skip the next meal if you eat a giant sami dog! Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: service can be slow more

Quality Carne Asada 1/15/2006

I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito with the works and it was very savory. I didn't even need to add the fresh pico de gallo from the salsa bar. The carne asada was quality steak with hardly any fat in it. The burrito consisted of fresh green cabbage, white cheddar cheese, and of course the asada. They accept debit. Don't let the exterior fool you. The food is worth it. Open until midnight. Friendly bi-lingual service. Pros: Savory Food, Hearty Quantity, Great Quality more

The Best Taqueria in Town! 1/12/2006

The tacos, the burritos, the hot dogs... you just have to try them all. Everything is made with quality food and with much quantaties. You simply need to try them to find out for yourself. They also have one at Grant and Oracle. :) Pros: Carne Asada Burrito, Hot Dogs, Caramelos more

Cinnamon Blonde 7/21/2005

This place rocks!!! Friends brought me here on a Sat night... not only did the grande burrito stuff me to the gills... but the free salsa bar and jalapeno/cebolla bar was awsome! PLUS! They had a Mexican band playing for tips! Self seating, order at window wait for number to be called! Mom and Pops place... worth the visit... more

Guero offers the best Mexican hot dogs in the world, bar none. The rest of the menu is great, too. He'll probably stop by your table at one point during your meal to make sure you're happy with everything. more
