I lived in Sherman for about 7 years and can honestly say there's not a better place for Mexican food. La Mesa is popular in the area, but seems to be nothing but cheaply made tex-mex that could easily be made in your home kitchen to me. El Chico definitely offers up more creative and flavorful entrees. From their queso and nachos, to their fajitas and carne asada, everything is good. I've had just about everything on the menu (minus the ribeye, which I hear is the best in town) and love the chicken fajita nachos and chicken fajitas the most. Another thing that sets it apart is the management. After being out of Sherman for a few years, the GM, Ray, still recognizes me and makes sure to some by my table and catch up whenever I'm in town and stop by... Pros: Something good for everyone's liking/Cheap XX Beer Cons: I don't live five minutes from there anymore more

My party of 4 and I had been out and about most of the day......we wanted to just take a few minutes to have a bite to eat and go home. We stopped at in at El Chico where our few minutes turned into three hours. The food and service were great. The Manager (I think his name was Ray) even came by to see if there was anything more that he and his staff could do to make our visit more pleasant. This was definitely a plus for us and we will definitely be return customers. Spread the word..... Pros: A Fun Place Cons: Didn't find Any more

I can honestly say that I have had there fajitas just about every week for three years and they are amazing. The cooks know who I am because they always are nice enough to grill me a jalepeno and red peppers to go in the mix, and have even made extra hot hot sauce for us a few times because they know how we like to prefer it.Don't think that I am a creature of habit either, there chicken monterrey is a great lunch when i get out of the office and my buddies and I have watched quite a few monday night football games here for nachos and cheap beer on mondays. The staff and food was outstanding and the restaurant was was very clean. I enjoyed the interaction with the manager Ray Morgan, he made my party of 6 feel right at home and the staff provided awesome service! I highly recomment eating there, oh yeah try the Cascabel Ribeye it's fantastic! Pros: Food selection more

I often have to travel through Sherman for busines and stop in at El Chico for a meal. I enjoy the prompt and attentive service which goes along with the scrumptious meal. I always feel great and that I've had a great dining experience after a meal at this restuarant. I tell my friends and co-workers when you're traveling through Sherman, eat at El Chico! This restaurant and it's staff seem to follow the personality of it's leadership in it's ability to provide great customer service to those frequenting this establishment. The food is exceptionally great and the decor is warming. This in itself adds to the experience of a great family dining experinece. As a frequent restaurant visitor, customer service is of utmost importance to me and my family. I can't say more of this establishment and it's ability to make one feel like you are at home! Bravo for the food experience, but moreso the feel of the comfortable, relaxing environment ! Go git yo El Chico at this Sherman location!!! Pros: Best customer service in the Metro area! I grew up eating El Chico in Wichita Falls and I loved it. Unfortunately, there was not an El Chico in the city that I moved to when I left for college. So recently I visited family in Sherman, I was excited to find out that there was an El Chico. The food was great and the service was excellent!!! more

THE BEST JUST GOT EVEN BETTER !!! - I have been going to El Chico Cafe since I was in High School in Dallas back in the 1960's. - I recently moved to Sherman and was so happy to find one here. On a recent visit (one of my weekly visits) the server suggested I try a ""secret"" menu item the ""Asada Enchilada"" - WOW !!! - what a fabulous treat !!! - I highly recommend this item to everyone !!! - But keep in mind it a ""secret"" - so not everyone knows to ask - you might have to ask your server to get approval to bring you this incredible culinary masterpiece ..... Pros: Best Asada Enchilada anywhere on earth !!! Cons: So good I wish I could eat there everyday !! more
