I wanted to like this place after hearing all the rave reviews, but unfortunately I didn't have a really great experience. I even gave the place a second chance and I traveled from about an hour away both times (which I am totally OK with if the service is great). Specifically, what bothered me about the salon was the particular stylist I had and her attitude. I could overlook the attitude had I had great service and walked away loving my hair, but I never even got what I went in asking for. I found her to be unfriendly and almost belittling. I went to Eikon for some color correction and was recommended to a stylist that specializes in it. When I met her for the first time, she seemed angry from the get go (she was a few minutes late) and made no attempt at chit chat. The no-talking thing is OK because I realize it may not be her personality and that most people like to go to the salon and relax/zone out, BUT, I thought she might at least smile and go through the usual pleasantries of asking me a few things about myself before going tight lipped. I assumed maybe it was just an off day but she was this way the 2nd time, too. I also mentioned that I felt she was ""belittling"" - I knew my hair needed some care when I went in but I didn't expect to be made to feel like I had been walking around with a disaster on my head. I actually felt like crying because she made me feel so bad about it. Maybe instead of just criticizing what I walked in with it, she could have balanced it with something more positive by saying something along the lines of, ""Well, we have a lot of work to do but once we get that old color out and some highlights in, you'll look amazing!"" Plus, on my second trip I showed her some pictures of different styles and some bangs and asked about incorporating the looks in to my style. Again, she was very negative and basically scoffed at me like I was asking the impossible. I would have appreciated it if she would have explained why I could not achieve the same looks and if she would have offered some alternatives or other suggestions. Overall, I think anyone going to a salon wants to feel pretty and happy and relaxed upon leaving. I did not. Eikon is an otherwise neat little place with pleasant, laid-back flair. The owner seems very nice, as do most of the other stylists. However, my stylist's sourpuss attitude really turned me on this place and I hope the owner realizes that sometimes talent does not overcome attitude. I've since found a new salon to call home. And, my new stylist took the time to help me get the looks from the pictures that I had originally taken to Eikon.
